It's a non narcotic pain killer. It works in the brain the same way that morphine does. I've taken it for two years due to patello femoral syndrome. I've heard of people claiming to become addicted to it, but I've never gotten "high" from it and it's not addicting to me, but everyone is different. I take 150 mgs twice a day PRN, some days I don't need it so I don't take it. But it really helps a lot. I can't take narcotic pain medications due to a drug abuse history, I have no problems with tramadol.

Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. It also may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. Tramadol works by decreasing the brain's perception and response to pain. It also reduces the size or magnitude of the pain signal passed from one nerve to another. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. http://www.somas.biz
