  • i think there are about 3,000 or 4,000 left in the wild in thailand. so sad. i love elephants ~ they are such beautiful creatures. their eyes haunt me. when i visited thailand three years ago i went to an elephant sanctuary/conservation project north of chiang mai and spent an afternoon interacting with the elephants. in a nearby nature park i was able to ride one of them. it was a very touching experience. i was riding on the mother elephant who was walking alongside her baby on the jungle trail. they go gaga for bananas! contributions made go towards elephant conservation projects. my heart goes out to the elephants and those who crusade to save the last of them...
