There is one movie(I havent seen it yet) that is generating good reviews online and in Parents magazines called "The Child King". It is a story of a two brothers, one of whom has Downs Syndrome. The children are teenagers, tho, so Im not sure if that is what you are looking for(to me a teenager is a kid, LOL). Another movie is Australian and looks at how a family and siblings cope with another sibling with autism. The young woman who wrote and stars in the film has 2 sibs. with autism. It is called "The Black Balloon". And finally, tonight at 9pm on NBC, there is a movie called "The Acorn People" about a man who goes to work at a summer camp for disabled children. According to a review in the NY Times, the disabled children playing the roles are from the Dallas area.

Oh, and I forgot Dominick and Eugene with Ray Liota and Jamie Lee Curtis. Great story. And even though he was an adult, "Rainman" was one of the best movies ever. "97X Bam! The Future of Rock and Roll"(said over and over and over again) or " #18 on the serious injury list:Charlie Babbitt squeezed and pulled and hurt my neck in 1988". I am a social worker and that is one of the best and most realistic portrayals I have even seen by a non-disabled actor.(which of course, wasnt the question. Sorry! : - )
