I have to throw SRV out there. Also, here are some names of some of my favorites that haven't already been mentioned: Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Michael Hedges, John Williams, Roy Buchanan, Ronny Baker Brooks, Buddy Guy, Luther Allison. Just to get some other names out there...

For me it's David Gilmour. He may not be the fastest, loudest, etc., but he makes me feel the music like no one else can.

You don't have to be old or classic to be considered most talented. My vote would go to Brad Paisley. Ted Nugent would get a very, very close second. Though, I have no idea of his name, but the A Flock of Seagulls song, Iran, the guitarist played the same three notes over and over again at the end of that song as a guitar solo. But, hey, gotta admit -- it worked.

Eddie Van Halen

I've thought about this a whole lot (lotsa time, maybe?) and can't really decide between Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmore (Floyd) and Al DiMeola (rock/jazz fusion). Then, of course, there's Zappa, Clapton, Paco de Lucia, John McLaughlin, Jimmy Page... BTW: great question!

Jason Becker Is the "most Talented Guitarists" Hendrix Is Not Even Close in ability it is just plain blind and close minded to put henrix, Clapton Page, ect. Even in the top 50! Other awesome Shdedders Jeff Loomis, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, John5, Chris Broderick, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert....Check These Masters of Guitar.
