  • Depending on how close the two are, you can get a variety of results: 1) The two cross into a hybrid which is healthy and able to reproduce 2) The two cross into a hybrid which is healthy, but its reproductive system doesn't work quite right and is unable to reproduce 3) The cross is unhealthy and dies 4) The cross is rejected by the mother before its gestation period is over, and she aborts it. 5) The sperm is not able to mate with the egg. That's my understanding.
  • The animals have to be at least closely related. Because the dna is not comatible with each other. Example horse and donkey = mule. Tiger and Lion = Liger. But a lot of the time when different species mate, the offspring are sterile. Example, mules are sterile and I am pretty sure Ligers are too.
