It's there for the same reason that eyebrows and eyelashes are there. To protect the area it covers.

Actually...Underarm hair is a sexual thing, believe it or not. It has to do with the response to olfactory stimuli in mammals and the increased sex drive caused by the release of pheromones. Kind of icky, but that's life.
-
It gives us something else to shave besides our legs.
-
The pubic hair is there to trap body odor, which another human might find very enticing. It is also a sign of sexual maturity.
-
It is there to cushion your face as it repeatedly crashes into your lovers body!
-
When you get pubic hair you are sexually mature and can reproduce.

I THINK IT WAS MADE TO ANNOY GIRLS

On a girl the pubic hair is there to act as a guide to the erotic zone, your leg guides the hand to your knickers, once the hand goes under the leg of your knickers, it finds your pubic hair and follows it down, once it finds the parting in the hair, the owner of the hand knows it's in the right area and is on it's own, or the case where the pubic hair has been partly removed, when the hand reaches the bottom of the hair. In the male, its there to let the guy know that when hir pubic hair touches the female vulva region, that his penus is all the way up inside you, and that he can't go any further in.

hehe this made me laugh!!! Jon (13) asks... I'm starting to get some hair down there--Why? What's it for? A Jon: Good question -- why? The changes one goes through during puberty signal the coming of adulthood, when a person becomes reproductive (able to have babies). Nature lets us know when someone is physically ready by showing us these signs. Now, that doesn't mean that we're really ready to have babies emotionally or maturely, but we're able to physically have babies. Now, why do we have pubic hair? There are a couple of reasons: Pubic hair is like a billboard that nature places on our bodies that signals "hey! look over here!" to others with whom we're intimate with. Also, all our hair (no matter where) helps to protect certain parts of our body, regulate body temperature, and/or catch our natural "scent" (called pheromones) that is produced in our sweat to attract others (of course, this "scent" can also repel others if we don't shower often enough!). General body hair, like on our limbs and chest, is probably just a natural leftover from our prehistoric ancestors who were hairy all over to keep them warm!

Reduces friction.

We have body hair, to protect our bodies, and keep us warm. As we evolved, we have adapted to wearing clothes, which now keep us warm. We still have hair in places that need warmth and protection, like the vagina, eyes (brows and lashes), and head. The thicker hair is just for more protection and warmth

I have read that one purpose for pubic hair is lubrication during sexual intercourse, as hair rubbing against hair causes less friction than skin against skin. It also hides the female vulva from view. Hair itself does NOT cause disease, being UNCLEAN causes disease. So let it grow and bath often, washing real good down there. Also when you pee if you will wipe the vulva with a witch hazel pad like tucks pads this will help your area smell better and prevent disease. Read the label on TUCKS pads it states these are also made for this purpose.

What is this "I have noticed" business? Have you performed some double-blind survey over an extended period of time that sampled thousands of subjects and taken carefully recorded notes? I think not. You've most likely based your statement on your own opinion, which is not a position based on fact, except in your own personal case. Here's another opinion, mine: pubic hair is necessary, causes sensual and sexual arousal, is simply attractive and is properly placed. Therefore, it DOES serve a purpose. P.S. The way you've used it, the word 'human' should be lowercase, and you misspelled 'necessary' and 'serve'.

If you are fem, it depends on whether you want to be sexy and attractive. Pubic hair is one of the most attractive features of a woman's body. I mean totally untrimmed. I love to look at it, run my fingers thru, rub my face on it.....and it turns me on like crazy
-
The evolutionary significance of hair is for protection. EX. Eyebrows and eyelashes prevent sweat from entering and burning the eye. Pubic hair protects genetalia from debris.
-
The same as my mustache, flavor saver.

I hate pubic hair and have shaved or wax since I was a young teen.

Actually pubic hair is scientifically known to reduce diseases. The hair acts as another barrier preventing things from getting inside by generally preventing direct contact with your vulva/labia/vagina. It also acts as a pheromone trap for which we are very receptive to. A recent UK study indicated that female twins and wearing skirts with no underwear, one shaved and one not, 9 out of 10 times the twin with hair was found to be more attractive to the males although they were physically identical. It shouldn't itch unless there is a medical reason.
