I toured Ireland (north and south) with friends a few years ago. We rented a car for the trip - I would definately recommend it. Cities are quite close together and having your own car allows you to get the most out of your trip. Sorry, I can't remember the cost. Loved Ireland - the people, landscape, and culture. Belfast and Dublin are obvious must sees. I also really enjoyed Galway, Limerick, and Bangor. We mainly stayed in B&B's.
