I don't hate it, but I do disapprove. People should scan the list first and up-rate the answer that matches what they're going to say. Otherwise you're just fishing for points and/or attention without actually contributing something new to the conversation. Sometimes I'll find an answer that's CLOSE to what I want to say, so I'll rate it up and then add a comment with my bits. Or sometimes I'll add a 2nd answer and acknowledge the first answer by reference so I'm not repeating it all.

Yeah, happens a lot. If they are a minute apart, it's probably just an accident, but 5 is kinda annoying. For opinion questions or 'what's your' questions, I have no problem, but factual questions there is no reason.

well sometimes it can be, but if it is the only answer you have, then use them.

Not really. Seeing as hopefully the questioner will see that mor ethan one person gave that answer and will therefore be more convinced that it's right!
