  • For minor cuts (not burns): 1. It hurts 2. It gets bright red 3. It may swell You can often fix a slight infection in finger or toe by soaking it in hot water with a little salt. Like 1 or 2 tbsp salt in 1 or 2 quarts (liters) water. Make it as hot as you can stand without burning yourself. It's an old home remedy. Usually works for me. Alternate: Antibiotic ointment (salve in a tube) which you can get OTC (over the counter, no prescrip). Common brands: Neosporin, Bacitracin, and even Target has its own house brand. I think one is as good as another. Try the hot water first.
