  • Religious reasons, medical reasons and there were many times I simply didn't feel like eating. When you say "fast" I think I have to qualify the term "fast": * Religious reasons: Fasting from sun down to sun down. Nothing to eat or drink - not even brushing my teeth, no smoking, not even having a glass of water, no medications and no nourishment of any kind. * Medical reasons: blood work being performed the following day. Medications and water are OK. No food or nourishment for at least 12 hours before the time the blood was to be drawn. * Didn't feel like it: wasn't in the mood to cook for myself or eat alone. I THINK the longest I ever did this was about 36 hours. I did have water. Thanks for asking your Q! I did my best to answer it. I hope the information helps.
