If you have a good driving record I strongly suggest pizza delivery. The money can be very good, and unless you'll be delivering to a military base there usually isn't much of a background check. I would avoid Pizza Hut, or any other place that focuses on dine-in, you'll be more of a peon than a driver. Domino's is OK, but local companies tend to pay better in my experience. It's not going to make you rich, but you can easily make $11 an hour average (tips, mileage, and wage) or more if you're willing to work and are smart enough to figure out where things are and be efficient at the process you're taught. Granted, you must maintain a vehicle, but if you keep up on maintenance you'll have very few surprise problems and won't spend too much of what you make. Offer all possible hours when applying, ask for minimum wage (if it's on the app), check back a few days later and again and again until you're told they don't need anyone or you're hired. The first time you're in ask if the hiring manager is there, if not find out when s/he is usually available, if so ask if them if they've had an opportunity to review your application. Don't show up when that person isn't there once you know when they will be, shows poor qualities. But don't be afraid to be a pest, they'll hire you because they need someone or because of your tenacity, or they won't hire you and never would have. You can't lose anything but a few minutes, and you can gain a very fruitful and fun job. Make sure once you're hired to continue to be available for all possible hours and never be afraid to work hard and do whatever is asked. You'll get the whiner's and complainer's hours in no time. For the record I own a pizza delivery restaurant. These are the qualities I look for in an employee, I'm sure they're not proprietary to my type of business if you look for something else. I also watch my drivers go home with cash every day, sometimes more in cash then I pay myself AND THEY STILL HAVE A PAYCHECK COMING! Very best of luck to you in whatever you do! :)
