The way I feel today, (and assuming the weapon is real, I'm not breaking any law and the intent is obvious) the answer is 'without any hesitation and with absolutely no remorse'. Self-preservation is all, but I might be a kinder person tomorrow (and if it happened, I might also be a deader one). Thankfully the chances of this happening to me in the UK is small in the extreme.

Yep, Quicker than you can say "Bob's your uncle"

I dont kill him, but I do get the gun from him.
-
of course!! I don't wanna die - little shit what have i done to him? chances are his mentally deranged anyway...if he looks scared.. I might for one second try to talk him out of it it, if he looks like he is going to shoot, I'm shooting him first god dammit! Children are pests!

You don't have to kill him to make him drop the rifle. I'd try to shoot him in the shoulder or upper arm of the arm with the finger on the trigger. Disable that and he's no threat. You don't have to go for the head shot on a 12 year old.

I could care less about the age, sex, race, religion, or family status of an assailant that foolish -- I'm taking them out. Furthermore, I'd take him down if he threatened your life, just as quickly as if he had threatened a member of my immediate family. I am an equal opportunity defender. Note that I did not say I would KILL this kid. That will happen only if I fail to aim properly. ;-)

Heck yeah

Chances are good that I wouldn't have to kill him to diffuse the situation. Most kids, and even adults, are hesitant behind the trigger of a gun. It is only the fear of the victim that keeps them from acting in a defensive manner that will save both lives. That said, I think you want to know if I HAD to, for whatever reason, take out a threat to my life who happened to be 12 years old, would I. The answer is yes, I am prepared to defend myself against any threat and worry about the humanity of it later. My own child still needs me to be here for her, and my responsibilty to protect life falls with her first. Part of that responsibility is protecting my own life so that I can continue to be here for her. Period.

NO! WHY SHOULD I KILL HIM, I WILL JUST LET HIM KNOW THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE

If there is no other option, no hesitation. If I am close enough (within a few feet) it takes about 1/10th of a second to get the shot off, assuming no hesitation on his part, and that's plenty of time to divert and disarm the kid. As a martial artist with training in that, I'd hope the kid would be dumb enough to get that close trying to aim. If there's people behind me to get shot and I'm not sure, the kid still gets killed. But if I can, I try not to kill him first.

Of course I would, otherwise he would murdalize me.
