  • ohh yes baby, there is no end to it (well theoretically there is and end but ...)
  • Yes, with better textures, lighting, more natural animation... imagine if the lighting for a video game was done with the effect that a movie has. Deep shadows, natural camera movement... there's a long way to go.
  • Yes definately. The proof is in the past. When the PS2 and Xbox came out they had some pretty good games with good graphics. But, by the end of it's life(near when PS3 and Xbox 360 came out) The graphics had improved so much more, because the game designers had figured out to use the console to it't full potential. The same goes for PS3 and Xbox 360. Right now the games look great, but wait a few years, and they will simply be mindblowing. As more and more complex machines get made, the graphics are going to get better and better. And, the games are going to get even more realistic. We haven't seen anything yet...
  • Good question. Do you think when the wheel was was invented they thought it would get much better than that? What about the T.V. or camera, microwave, gun, airplane, lightbulb... Yes to answer your question, yes do. Unless for some really wierd reason we all decide to stop move forward as a civilation, only then would I say no.
  • Not sure if this is applicable but one of the best graphics for online gaming is extreme games (continuum) .. if I can I will post the link http://www.subspacedownloads.com/?act=introduction
  • Graphics are getting better all the time, but it still does not look quite real and its will hard to ever be really perfect. Take a game like Need For Speed Carbon, the cars look great, the scenery is great, but if you look close you can still see that a lot of the buildings are just texture mapped boxes, the cars still have bits that are not completely smooth etc. You could fix those problems, but the design time and processor power it would take would be a problem. I don't think graphics need to be perfect anyway. The game I played most over the last few years was probably Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and the graphics were not perfect, but when you are playing you don't really notice. I think it will bring new problems the more real things get, people already complain about kids playing violent games, the more real that violence becomes the more fuss it will cause. I kind of like the look of graphics as graphics anyway, like the Final Fantasy games, they are amazing to look like, but not realistic. I posted a message earlier saying my favourite old game was Elite, which was a 3d space combat and trading game, which sounds impressive, but was it done in 24bit colour(16.7 million colours) like a lot of modern games? maybe 256 colours like a lot of older games? 16 colours? Nope, the game was in 2 colours, pure black and pure white, not even shades of grey. The game was on my 32k (0.032mb) Acorn Electron, but it was an incredible game. Great graphics does not always mean a great game (did anybody here ever play rise of the robots!!!).
