  • If the bat had stopped moving, the ball is in play. That is to say, the ball hit the bat.   • Thanks for the answers! I already knew it though but was scorekeeping and had to argue. My understanding is any object which is legal in play ( hat, glove, shoe, helmet etc. ) which settles in fair territory becomes part of the playing field ( like a rock ).
