  • No. Not only could you have the chance of two people being elected that simply cannot work together, but you also have the chance of two people being elected from different parties. Talk about seldom agreeing on anything!! This actually used to be done (through the Electoral College) in the early years of the US and it was a huge mess. I much prefer the "slate" elections we have now.
  • No it would be terribly expensive. What if a Rep wins the Presidential elections and a Dem wins the VP elections? It would a horrible mess correct? So no, for the stated reasons they should not be separate elections.
