  • It would probably be Christmas morning of 1972 when I was 9 years old. Being the youngest of six kids I always got to be the first at the bottom of the stairs as we lined up by age and waited for my dad to go in and turn the tree lights on before we were allowed to run in and tear in. Dad was on his way back through the hallway with his coffee and about to enter the living room when the phone rang. It was my aunt saying they had to get to my grandmother's and get her back to the hospital. My dad rushed out the door and we waited. Nobody wanted to open any gifts when we got another call saying that my grandmother had died in my dad's arms as he was carrying her from her house to the car to take her back to the hospital. The doctors never wanted to release her but she insisted she had to be home for Christmas and would return the next day. I know it's a sad sentiment, but it's the one that stands out in my mind the most and can still choke me up.
  • Almost brought a tear to my eye...thanks! Best Regards, George Hussein Obama
