Personally (nad i'm fiarly ignorant to this subject), I think so. If he always seems to be under the influence of alchol, this may be his true self (a drinker). And if he's confronted and gets defensive...chances are he's got something to be guilty about or has an attachement to his frequent drinking.

Only he can answer with certainty whether he's an alcoholic or not, but it people who are always drinking have a problem.
