  • They don't.
  • You gave such an excellent speech, when will you be on the ticket. :) I base my vote on what they have DONE already. They can all talk, but have they DONE anything. I think it is a great question so here's +5 ( I see someone gave a - 5)
  • They don't all sound alike. In this election, we have two distinct political philosophies at work. One thinks the government should take care of the citizenry from cradle to grave and the other would like as little government involvement as possible. One sees your money as your money while the other sees it as government's money to spend as they see fit. This presidential election is very clear in both the rhetoric and actions of the candidates.
  • I base it on the evidence of what they stand for, not just what they say. They can say whatever they want, but if the evidence says differently, I'm going with the evidence. I also look at experience - who has the experience and wisdom to be able to lead us? Patriotism is another major issue - can they prove they are dedicated to the country I love? Are they willing to go all the way to keep it free and safe (in that order)? If they can't prove to me they care about America, not just about themselves, they don't get my vote. And, quite frankly, if the candidate's speaches are full of lies and hypocrisy, they may as well forget about my vote.
  • Obama Communism Marxist Racist & Sexist. McCain Socialism Veteran Brings a Minority in as his running mate. when having a choice like this I suppose I'll pick Socialism
  • I don't think they all sound alike at all, but clearly the messages can be lost in the din of hype and media spin. We can weigh the validity of their claims against actual facts to test their ability and willingness to stretch the truth, but, contrary to popular opinion, unless we know the politicians personally, we can't judge their character. I look at disposition and poise. I also take into consideration whatever information is available about the candidates' lives prior to their political career. I try to discover their motivation for entering the political arena. I don't vote for someone who superficially promotes my ideals just to educe my vote, I vote for someone who consistently demonstrates them.

  • in my opionion, if someone does not have a clear understanding of the issues, and the canidates, then that person should not vote for anyone. too many people vote because they have just a vague idea of what a canidate stands for and doesn't uderstand the whole picture, or else they just blindly vote for someone who is associated with a particuar party. I like to use this example: if someone never watches "American Idol" should they call in to vote for one of the contestants just because they like their name? Voting is a right, but with it comes the responsiblity to be informed
