It isn't what you take/make..it is what you give. Do we give what we can/should/ought to or do we leave that to others? I try to give, but Lord knows that there's always room for more giving. Giving money can be very difficult these days, but there are other ways to give too... our time, our energy, our effort, our encouragement, our love, etc.

Can average with flashes of occasional brilliance provide a good life? Or do you need to be above-average 24/7 to succeed? What is average? And what is success? It's all subjective. It depends on the situation, too. Obviously if you're trying to do something like cure cancer, then you'd need to be above what most people would call "average" most of the time. However, if success to you is having a house and food, then I'd say what most people call "average" is perfectly fine. Happy Monday! :)

It takes place in France, and is based on a French book, but if all the actors spoke in French or with heavy French accents, many people wouldn't really be able to easily understand it...

Relationships should be trouble-free. When you have to struggle or "work hard" to maintain a relationship,isn't something wrong? Have you had one single relationship were there was no disagreement (no matter how small), no argument, no fight? Neither has anyone else. If there are major problems in a relationship, then yes, something is wrong, but if you can overcome those problems it makes relationships all the stronger.

Do you buy "the devil made me do it"/ "the devil must have caused it"? Isn't that just passing blame to another and playing victim? Hmm, this question came up in church yesterday (interesting). Personally, I think that no matter how much the devil tempts us, we are the ones who ultimately make the decision to sin or not to sin. And some of it is just our sinful nature (not Satan).

I don't think it was really the crucifixion so much as the rising from the grave (conquering death and sin) that makes redemption possible. We are told that forgiving is good for the soul. Some things are unforgiveable. So how can people forgive the unforegiveable? Everything is forgivable - God forgives us for every wrong thing we've ever done, no matter how terrible, if we ask him to. My theory is, why should we deny others the same forgiveness that was shown to us? Although the issue of faith may lead to division, faith is an amazing thing. Do you have any rules for accepting friends on AB? I look first at the plus rating and then at questions/answers/comments. What things do you look at and what is the most important thing to you? I look at their questions and answers (and if they have anything in their profile, I do that too). Usually I don't have too much of a problem accepting anyone - I just need to make sure that we don't have any major things we disagree on - I find that if we do, it's better to decline so we don't run into each other as often, and we have fewer chances of starting an argument.

It's often very difficult to change how we feel, even if we know we shouldn't feel a specific way about something. I think it is possible, but it takes a lot to be able to actually do it. The subject is rubber bands. I don't remember ever throwing one away. I collect them, day after day and put them in plastic slide-lock bags. When the bag is full I start another bag. God gives people free will. I'd LOVE to be able to "understand" the Bible! I have, however, two problems! ONE: the words used are archaic and don't translate well to TODAY and TWO: God, Himself, nor Jesus penned their names to it! Therefore, I find it all conjecture! Now what? Well, you could find a more modern translation (there's plenty out there!), and it does say in the Scriptures that they were inspired by God. Also on the whole translation problem, if you trust God to help you understand what you are reading, He WILL help you understand.

I think it depends on the person and their outlook on life, as well as how much they value it. Some people allow difficult experiences to rule their lives, and they wallow in self-pity, while others take those experiences and try to make the best of them and learn from them.

I've always found the produce they sell (corn, tomatoes, strawberries, whatever) is always of better quality and lower cost. Have you noticed the same thing? Some things really bug us, tick us off, annoy the heck out of us. Other things we let slide right off our backs. Why? Why doesn't every annoying thing/experience/person tick us off? I think that for a lot of us, it's often the people that annoy us more, not their comments/actions/etc. Of course, we all have pet peeves and sensitive areas, too. Is there something wrong with AB tonight? I've been coming back to the site every half hour or so, for about 3 hours, and the questions on the home page haven't changed. Also, none of my questions or comments are receiving responses! Yep, there was a gigantic glitch from late afternoon/early evening last night until sometime this morning. But it's fixed now! :)

What in the world is happening to so many of our teens? Piercings, tattoos, drinking you name it. I think a lot of it is just trying new things they've never done, and some of it is rebellion, obviously, but there are still many teens out there who are very cooperative and responsible and don't do that kind of thing. In fact, I know several teens who have more morals and scruples than some adults do.

So why is it that some of us believe we are "victims" 24/7 and others of us keep on smiling through whatever life throws at us? I suppose it's our attitudes and beliefs towards such things, and also how many times tragedy seems to be thrown at us. Personally, I believe we are never sent more than we can handle, and even though dark times may seem endless, we appreciate the good times more afterwards.

Sometimes when I have been in church singing and/or praying, an overwhelming sense of "sadness" comes over me with the spiritual "CONNECTION" I feel with God! My voice chokes-up and I'm nearly in TEARS! What causes that? I would say God and your relationship with Him does. I know what you mean - I started crying in church the other week because the pastor's sermon was about feeling God's presence, and I felt so horrible and unworthy. Do you eat raw eggs? After doing some research, I have found that raw eggs are healthier than cooked eggs. Salmonella only infects 1 in 30,000 eggs. If you are not a child, elderly, or have an immune compromising disease, salmonella is no big deal. I eat cookie dough, if that counts.

Sometimes the answers I get from AB members to my questions delight me. They are very thoughtful and give me insight into things I hadn't even considered. How often are you delighted with the responses you receive to your questions? Yes, a lot of the time I am thrilled at the answers I get (when I DO actually ask serious questions). There are so many angles to each question, and I love just looking at the answers. Another thing I like is to see heartfelt yet upbeat questions, like this one, that can just make your day. We don't tip where I'm from, and the practice confuses me a little... How much are you supposed to tip someone? Is there a set amount? Is it mandatory? What happens if you don't tip? Usually 10-20%, with 15 being average. No, it's not mandatory, and no one will come after you if you don't tip, but it's polite and the person who would be receiving the tip might get a little upset if you don't.

Does it "bother" you when an ABer begins their question with "OK?" For some reason, it "irks" me a tiny bit, and I don't know exactly why. [The link right below this question gives just one example.] As long as I can make out what the question is, I usually don't have a problem with how it's worded. I just don't like questions that are insulting, inappropriate, or questions that go around bashing certain groups of people or making fun of another's beliefs. (Sorry, I guess a simple "no" would have sufficed.)

Once when I was a kid I fell off of the pool noodle I was using and was surprised/shocked and called for help without thinking, lifeguard came and saved me... Other time I got out and my feet slipped right out from under me, and I landed on my back and just layed there for a moment. And at least 5 other people that I know saw it. Luckily, I'm able to laugh about that.

My viewpoint is if you're at home or with someone you know very well, as long as no one minds, it's ok as long as you keep your elbows to yourself and aren't taking up the whole table.
