Answer to:
Do you think we can really learn from the past?
We project our own values and beliefs into any arena we study.
This contaminates the "learning" that might occur.
What you learn from the past depends upon what you wish to believe about the future.

Where does Glenn Beck rank in stupidity among the FOX News loud mouths?
He is "devilishly" clever.
Not stupid, just wrong.
He exploits fear in the insecure.
There is no cure for such a sociopath,
or those who feed off him.

Answer to:
Is there a more truthful news anchor than Glenn Beck?
Since Hitler, no one has distorted the truth with half facts, exaggerations and phony appeals to patriotism, God and honor. Glenn Beck is an embarrassment and a blight to all but his few adherents. Thank goodness that 99% of Americans ignore his appeal to their "dark side."
To answer the question, asking a question about truth and Glenn Beck represents an oxymoron.
I can't use those two...

Answer to:
Is There a "War on Christmas"?
Paranoia unites many groups.
Having an "enemy" you can invoke to protect your cause is a standard tactic. Claiming that anyone threatens your beliefs allows the group to bond at special events and seasons. Having "impotent enemies" makes invoking them all the easier. Relax. Their is too much money at stake for believers and non-believers to take any threat seriously.

When you hear about some of the conflicts that go on in the world, do you ever feel like so much pain and suffering could be avoided if everyone was just a little less sensitive?
Billions of people live in peace.
Never forget that. It is no small accomplishment.
War is less about sensitivity than money.
All the major nations thrive on building and exporting weapons. Conflict creates buyers, uses product and creates sells. Regional differences are exploited as a matter of business more than politics.

It also had a subtext of women being the temptress of man. The beginnings of a chauvinistic rationale.

You are mixing the concepts of human nature with economics and environmentalism. Maybe they all belong in the recipe.
A psychologist, an environmentalist or an economist would all give you different answers, while a generalist may see the big picture.

Why do womens number of sexual partners seem to matter more than mens?
From an anthropological point of view, it is the female who forms the basis for a stable home and society. She is the child rearer. Therefore, some expectations of fidelity have fallen to them.

Just winging it here, but as I recall, many of the myths/beliefs of Mithra were incorporated into Christianity.

Do you think the word "dyke" is offensive? I asked a question with that word in there on this site the other day and apparently some people think I was being rude or something... I didnt mean anything bad by it!!! :(
Gina has a good answer. Mother Earth has a good answer, too. But when women cultivate this masculine image, they do so knowing that it will carry a label.
I know of no acceptable word that somebody couldn't deem offensive. We dislike stereotypes and their terminology, yet adopt an image to fit the stereotype and complain. Very puzzling...pts. to you and mother.

Morality is a highly subjective and personal opinion.
As Such, the terms "right and wrong" hardly seem to apply. I am not at all concerned with what others believe. That's what independent thinking is.
So, I can't even comprehend your question.
Homosexuality just IS, right or wrong seem irrelevant.

What would you say if someone said that "Life is a Cycle" and that "Nature and the Universe is a Cycle "?(the universe is big cycle waiting for the big bag to happen all over again.)
They are essentially correct.
Nature rejuvenates heerself.
Spring, winter, fall, summer, spring.
The Big Bang is still expanding but expected to contract in the distant future.
But one human's life is not a cycle that we can prove.
It begins, it ends. (Our DNA , in part does cycle through our children.)
Though reincarnation allows for it.

Why do people try to use the Bible to prove itself? that's like me saying homosexuality is okay (which is true) because i like it.
It is circluar argument. Thus illogical to critical minds.
To one who takes the Bible literally, it is flawless, and the Bible is its own proof. They accept this as a valid position.
I see their point and understand, but would like more evidence before judging anyone.

If you are not quoting directly from an historical religious document, you are getting an "interpretation" from the speaker.
As such, the speaker is "making it up" from his own beliefs and interpretaions of those documents.

Now look ahead 3 years, to 16. I am betting you'll be much smarter then than you are now.

How often you believe that parents 'let go' of their young adult children, trusting that they [the parents] really have done a good job, instilling great values, etc.? If so, why do some still 'hold on' so very tightly?
Kids should be raised to be independent.
They innately will develop the desire to go out on their own.
Parents who stifle this urge, are probably doing so to satisfy their own needs for love and companionship. Parents have to mature also and cut the apron strings.

When is it a very good thing for a parent of adult child/children to say a 'loving' No!'? Have you done this and what happened 'after all'?
My kids are very independent. The only time I invoke a "NO" is upon a request for assistance, most often of the monetary kind.
In this case I get to impose my values compared to their desires and ability to make repayment. Serious needs take precedence over frivolous wants. It takes time to tell the difference.

Answer to:
Do you believe there can be love after cheating?
I'd be curious of the genuineness of the love before cheating.
When in love, this temptation should not even be a threat.
I would say you may learn to accept and forgive the cheating and perhaps grow to a more mature love than before, but the trust level is more difficult to attain.

As for religion spurring exploration, I'd have to say that greed was the major motivator, and Priests often went along for the ride.

My mother In-law re-arranged my kitchen cubboards while I was on vacation, Both Inlaws were visiting their son..(my husband) and were helping remodel his office. When I found out she re-arranged my kitchen I was furious. Am I right or wrong?
Your "territory" was invaded and it was a hostile action designed by your compulsive, and/or passive aggressive mother-in-law to either pass the time, or let you know her opinion of you.
If you generally are cordial, let it blow over, but you do have a right to feel violated, just don't expect an apology.

Also, remember that your annual vet bill can easily equal the cost of the dog, and the dog deserves good care.

Is "pray for help" really a legitimate answer to a major problem in your opinion?
Prayer helps invoke God's assistance, even for the non-believer, it helps to "reset" your mental programming in a desired direction.
At the very least, it improves your ability to act when you have the power of "belief" on your side.
PS- Beyond prayer, it never hurts to take whatever action is within your ability to solve your problems.

If you asked your significant other, whom you have take space from (at her request), to hang out and she replied "Not yet, because I want you to detach yourself from me." What would you think?
She has an odd way of dumping you, my friend.
