We have had a birthday cake for Jesus many times. We still leave cookies for Santa, but the cake for Jesus helps the children know (and remind us) the reason for the Season.

It is not necessary to refrigerate the cake. If it is wrapped in plastic wrap, it's best to just leave it on the counter. Sometimes it can pick up other "smells" from the refrigerator.

This evening, for example, I will make some filo parcels with camembert and goldengage jam, but my favourite parcel is with spinach, goats cheese, a couple of cashew nuts and cherry tomatoes
For a savory filling, I like to use browned italian (bulk) sausage, thawed Stouffer's spinach souffle (to bind it) roasted red peppers or chopped fresh red peppers and then cheese of your choice--maybe grated fontina or sharp provolone).
Another one of my favorites would be crab meat, green onions, shredded gruyere and add mayo and sour cream to bind it.

You would need at least 1 tsp. of good quality, pure vanilla extract. If you don't think the quality is very good, you can add up to an additional teaspoon.
