Insurance companies don't do repossessions. If your finance company does a repo, you will still be liable for the balance of the loan. I have to wonder ....where do you live where insurance on a financed car isn't mandatory? If it is, I have no sympathy for you.

I have a 2005 Saturn Ion - 5 speed. I have gone out to start my car, turn the key and nothing. Dashboard lights come on. Battery is good. Then I can go out 30 minutes later and it starts right up just like new.
Dashboard lights coming on do not indicate a good battery. Dash lights take a LOT less amperage than starting functions. It is common as the weather starts turn cool and moist for bad battery connections to work sporadically. Clean your battery connections thoroughly, and coat with vaseline or other moisture inhibiting coating.

I can't cite any scientific reference as proof, but through my observations, and conversations during the past 40 something years, I firmly believe it.

I have a few, and none are good for you. You have basically ground through the brake linings, and created a metal to metal condition that has caused permanent, serious damage. Get your car to an ASE certified mechanic pronto. Brakes are not the place to put things off, or take chances.

2004 tahoe blower will not shut off even after key is removed
Sounds like a bad relay. Locate the relay panel, and remove the one for the blower motor. The motor should stop. If it does, simply replace the relay. This is not an uncommon occurrence, and is easily, and inexpensively fixed. If it doesn't you have an electrical problem that can't likely be diagnosed online, and will require some shop time by a qualified auto electrical specialist.

I love the chance to be innovative. I have a circuit to give the headlights a dim setting for cruise night (this is a low voltage circuit that makes the headlights just glow instead of being bright). Many members of my car club want this incorporated into their cars. These are the kind of things that make my hobby fun! I agree. Anybody that dreads auto wiring, just doesn't understand it....

Do you like doing electrical wiring on automotive applications or do you just not mind it?
I enjoy it. I build hot rods as a hobby. One of my favorite parts is when I get to start wiring a car from scratch to create a one of a kind, personalized electrical system for the car's owner. My current project is my own 1940 LaSalle sedan. A long, low street cruiser equipped with a modern sound system, and custom lighting.

The front right window on my 1994 explorer will not go up or down. what fuse controls this?
Do the other windows work? If so, it is not a fuse, but either the window motor itself, of the door switch. The switch can be checked by using the master switch on the drivers door. If neither the right door or master switch works, but the other windows work, it is the motor that has gone bad.

I have a 97 VW Golf and I was told the radiator needs bleeding. I changed the themostat out and it still runs hot after 4 miles.
This is a pretty short time period to experience an overheat condition. As another answer stated, check to make sure that the new thermostat was not installed upside down. This happens fairly regularly, and can cause quick overheating. Flushing the radiator is considered regular maintenance, but shouldn't cause the problem described. What was the make, model and color of your first car? Do you miss it?
First car I ever drove? or my first car? First "car" I ever drove was a tan, 1967 Ford f-100. My first car was a yellow 1966 Chevelle.
Answer to:
I just charged my car batter to 14.0 v (tested on multimetre) car wont start and battery measures no amps whats goin on?
A battery will sometimes show correct voltage (14 volts +/-)with no load. If it drops below 12 volts when applying a load (such as starting) it may still be a bad battery. I currently have a "spare" battery that shows 14 volts when taken off the charger, but drops to less than 8 when installed in a "start" application.

Did you get spanked as a child by your parents or grandparents? If yes, what did you get spanked with? For me, it was a big wooden spoon by my grandmother.
A leather belt. My father called them "bedroom sessions" where we would lay face down on the bed, and he would stand over us and lay that belt across our backs and backsides. Yes, this was an extremely harsh method of punishment, but I beat it. He's f**king dead, and I'm alive and I have never done that to my kids!

In theory, you would pay capital gains on the entire amount over your investment, however, if you are smart, you will hire an accountant who can help you with the intricacies of depreciation and re-investment of your money. This will save you thousands. Don't leave money matters of this magnitude in the hands of internet strangers.

They are still responsible for their mortgage, and you are still responsible for yours. Both parties will have to qualify for financing on their respective new homes. Neither mortgage is "paid off" unless financing is obtained under the new owners name, and a new mortgage is established.

Central Heating or Fireplace? Why?
In floor radiant heat is my preference. It is the most cost efficient, and comfortable way to heat a home. After that, I would choose my pellet stove above any thing else. I heat my entire home with it, and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Answer to:
I'm a 22 year old guy and I broke my fibula near the ankle six weeks ago. I was supposed to have my cast removed but the follow up x-ray revealed the bone didn't heal much. Theres no pain to the touch however, any idea why the healing is so slow?
I broke my tibia and fibula nearly 3 years ago. I was off work for 10 months. These are the worst bones to break. Blood flow is lowest in this part of the body, and healing takes much longer. Don't rush it, let it heal fully. If it doesn't heal properly, it will cause you problems for the rest of your life.
Answer to:
.can i convert a ford ranger 4 cylinder alternator to a one wire alternator for a race car One Wire Ford Alternator
Depends on the type of alternator you have. If it is internally regulated, it can usually be used as a "1 wire" alternator as these units will self excite at 500 rpm. Number of cylinders doesn't matter much. Amperage output is what you need to use to determine whether or not it will work. I currently use a 60 amp unit from a 1980 Ford van in my hot rod, but may need to go bigger...

There is a tag on your existing differential that will give you the info you need to do an exact replacement. However, you may want to analyze your needs, and decide for yourself which gear ratio will be more appropriate for your current needs. The truck doesn't care what the gear ratio is, your driving style and use of the vehicle dictate this.

My 97 f150 4.6 gets only 15mpg on trips. Will a flowmaster or magnaflow cat-back dual exhaust really help improve mileage. Not looking alot of noise inside or out, just performance. Any accessories you know that may help? Thanks for truthful answers.
A free flow exhaust system will improve performance somewhat which in the long run will increase mileage. Replacing the stock air cleaner with a K&N or equivalent at the same time is also a good idea. Don't expect a miracle though. With both of these mods you will probably on get a 1 or 2 mpg increase.

If there are a set of steps besides some escelators wat do you use? (i use the stairs because i cant stand to see how lazy some people are when they should be glad to be able to walk)
I use the escalator, and it has nothing to do with being lazy. Walking up and down steps causes me pain. I broke my leg 3 years ago, and have 2 steel plates and 28 screws in it. Walking on flat ground is basically pain free, but the extra ankle flexing of stairs is very uncofortable. Don't be so quick to judge. I am thankful everyday that I can still walk, and am in no way lazy.

My first inclination is a vacuum leak. It may possibly be a belt squeal, but it is nearly impossible for me to be sure of any diagnosis without actually hearing the sound in question. Try taking it to a local garage. Any reputable auto mechanic would listen and give a professional opinion without cost.

I don't know what to do. Should I stay a Packer fan or should I move on after the Favre incidence? Was it the organizations fault that he was traded to the worst team in the league?
You just have to decide if you are a Packer fan, or a Favre fan. I for one am a Favre fan. I love watching him play football quite possibly as much as he loves playing. He is, in my mind, a big kid who truly plays for the love of the game. Have you ever seen him playing without a smile on his face? Let's face it, he just got offered $20 mil to stay retired and turned it down!

Opinions on '06 Honda Civic EX Coupe 2D; 23,520 miles, Power everything, sun roof, A/C, CD, excellent condition as far as I can tell, manual 5sp. Dealerships used cars, asking price $19,650. Estimated 28mpg. Ask for more details
For starters, go to Kelley Blue Book's website and look up their value on this car, then go to Auto Trader's website and do some comparison shopping. Blue Book value and market value don't always correspond to each other. As a final check, look at e-bay. Ignore vehicles without bids, look only at the ones people are actually bidding on. This will give a good indication of what...

How do I remove an undermount sink from a thin marble counter?
If your counter top is made of a "corian" like material, it is not really marble, but a very dense plastic similar to automotive polyester fillers. This can be cut free with a variety of tools. If in doubt, have your local cabinet shop take a look at it and give you a removal estimate.

I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla and the battery died for the first time tonight. I got a jump start and drove around for 30 minutes like the AAA guy said to. Got home and went back to restart engine after 5 minutes, but no go...
It may indeed be the alternator, however, the absolute first thing to do is to disconnect and thoroughly clean the battery connections. Alternators are expensive, maintenance is free.

Is it possible to save money on cable/internet by taking advantage of one provider's low initial rates, then switching to another provider and repeating the same process?
Sounds good on paper, but doesn't pan out in real life. To get these "good rates" you usually have to sign a 1 year contract. If you cancel early to take advantage of another offer, you pay a heavy cancellation fee.

Listing the ages of 7 guys is not a "couple of guys". Guys of this age going around "buying stuff" for a 14 year old are most certainly out for a piece of ass. They may be patient enough to wait til they have you convinced they aren't, but they most certainly are. I base this advice to you as the father of 2 grown daughters.

Black smoke means excessive fuel. First thing that comes to mind is a bad throttle position sensor, though there are other sensors that can cause this as well.

Is military experience (especially Navy SEALS) worth forfeiting several years for training in order to gain prestige/experience for a high-level business career? Or is graduate school (MBA) a more practical asset?
Not sure what you mean by "high level business career". My father served in the Navy. It was this training that got him his job as an engineer at General Motors. In 1973 his salary was over $70,000 per year. I didn't keep in contact much with him after that, but he retired with a very healthy pension. I don't think he "forfeited" anything with his military training.

The legal aspects of this should be handled through the court system. The bottom line is, does your son want to see him? Children should never be put into the middle of this kind of dispute. If your son wants to see his dad, it should be allowed no matter what problems transpire between you and the father.

Your stock crankshaft, rods and transmission should all do fine. 2000 lbs isn't a very heavy load to tow. My boat and trailer weigh in at just under 4000 lbs, and I have towed it for over 8 years with a stock small block Ford. The only thing you may consider (especially if you are towing in mountainous terrain) is an after market trans cooler.

What size propeller do I need for a 25 foot Sea Ray with a 454 motor and a Bravo 1 out drive?
Choosing the correct prop depends on many factors. How heavy you normally load the boat, whether or not you use it for skiing or just cruising, etc. The props diameter can be found by measuring the distance from the center of the prop shaft to the bottom of the cavitation plate. This is the radius. Double it to get the diameter, then subtract about 1/2 inch for clearance. The other number to...

When I start my 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse stalls out when i push on the gas. Anyone have an idea as to what that could be?
These types of problems are hard to diagnose online, but it may be something as simple as a plugged fuel filter. A weak fuel pump would also produce these symptoms, as well as a bad throttle position sensor. I'd start with the filter, since this needs to be changed as part of routine maintenance anyway. It's quite possible that it's letting enough fuel through at idle, but...

While it is generally considered a good idea to put all the valve train parts back the way they came out, it is not a necessity. Your agent likely already knows. They don't just sit around waiting for buyers. They spend a lot of time researching things like this so that they can keep on top of the market. You may need to reconsider your selling price. That is definitely something to discuss with your agent.

Why would my antifreeze still be leaking after just getting a new radiator installed? I just filled the reserve tank two weeks ago and already it is empty.
There are several places where it can leak. Have you noticed any puddles under the car? Park the car on a clean area. After it has reached operating temperature, shut it off and wait about 15 minutes. It should build enough pressure in the system to find most leaks. It is also possible that you have a blown head gasket, and are losing coolant into the pistons. When in doubt, take the car to a...

Where is the in-line fuel filter located on a 2003 Ford Thunderbird?
According to thunderbirdforum.com, the fuel filter is accessed by removing the drivers side front wheel, and then removing the rear of the inner fender shield. You may be able to poke your head under the car and see it's approximate location. My last 'Bird was an 89 and that one had the filter near the rear of the car just inboard of the rear wheel.

I have a 1940 LaSalle (Cadillac), and the tube for the wiper actuator comes off the intake manifold, this is also true on several of the vehicles owned by members of local car club. I have never seen a vacuum operated system that was connected to a fuel pump.

Why don't they give cash rebatess for aluminum cans outside the 5 usual states?
Not sure what 5 states you mean, but please realize that the term "rebate" is somewhat inaccurate. Here in Oregon, I pay a deposit on every can I purchase. The money given back to me is a refund of money I have already paid out. A rebate is a cash discount given as an incentive.

I have a 2001 Dodge neon ES. Sometimes when I try to start my engine, I turn the key, but nothing happens. All the idiot lights are bright on my instrument panel and I don't see a load on my battery, but the engine won't try to crank over. BAD STARTER?
Before doing anything else, clean the battery cable connections. Poor connection will allow enough voltage through to run lights, etc. but not the starter. It could very well be the starter relay (solenoid) or possibly even the ignition switch itself. Not likely a bad starter as you would generally experience some activity in the system as it tries to move.

Why is submarine not made into commercial transportation for tourism and traveling.
When you look at the cost to construct and operate a submarine, then weigh in how few passengers it could carry, it wouldn't be very cost effective. Traveling by water is slow and inefficient. Why do you think cruise ships charge a couple of thousand per person for a five day ride?

I have a 1995 cadillac sedan deville and the anti-freeze is bubbling in the resevour. What could be the problem?
Not quite enough info here. Is the car running when you get this bubbling? What is the engine temperature when this happens?
If you are getting this bubbling after running the engine for a length of time, it could be caused by a release of pressure due to overheating. If this is happening with the engine running, before it has warmed up, it is likely a blown head gasket.

Whatever you do, DON'T buy a $49 Wal-Mart guitar. Cheap guitars are cheap for a reason. When it comes to instruments, you truly get what you pay for. As a guitar maker I regularly advise people to get the most expensive one their budget will allow. Sound quality matters when trying to learn how to play chords. Many new players also lose interest if the guitar has to be re-tuned all the...

We are looking to purchase a home that is 10 years old (original sale was $155,000). This home has been assessed by the county for that same value. The seller is asking $175,000. How do we negotiate this sale?
Tax assessments are usually lower than market value. The seller is probably realistic at this price. If you doubt the value, your best bet is to hire an independent appraiser.

On many Chevrolets around this year, computer glitches can sometimes be fixed by disconnecting the positive battery cable for 15 minutes or so. This resets the computer. This will only cure the glitches. If you actually have a problem that needs to be fixed, indicator lights will continue to tell you so.

It "can" be done since this vehicle was offered with a diesel anyway. Front suspension is usually beefier on the diesel trucks to hold the heavier engine so it needs to be upgraded. Wiring harness will have to be changed. On board computer will need to be replaced also. There is lots more, but the general idea is, your better off trading the truck in on a diesel if you really want...

Answer to:
I bought a chip to install into my 2007 toyota corolla it asks to locate the IAT. Where do I find the IAT?
The IAT is the "intake air temperature" sensor, and is usually located in the top of the intake manifold. The chip you bought is basically a resistor that bypasses this sensor and fools the car's computer into thinking that it's real cold outside and needs more fuel. Your gas mileage will surely suffer, but you may see a slight increase in power.

I have a built 350 and have a eldelbrock 750 Cfm. I try to give it gas and it hesitates and then goes and if you give it to much gas it will die. What could it be if anybody has any answers I would love to here them.
A 750 cfm carb is a lot of carb for a 350. Not sure how "built" your 350 is but my son and I used a 550 cfm Edelbrock carb on a Mopar 360 that was pretty potent. Edelbrock carbs are adjustable as far as accelerator pump position and jetting. Sounds like you you need to dial yours in a little.

This would likely vary by state. Here in Oregon, only 2 brake lights are required by state law. Check with your local law enforcement agency, they will be able to tell you the facts.

I would like to know if the gasoline in a container has been mixed with 1/40 oil for a chainsaw. My chainsaw siezed up and I was told that the gasoline used must not have been mixed. I swear I mixed it.
2 cycle oil is colored green as a rule. This is so it gives the fuel a greenish tint after mixing so that you can tell mixed from unmixed. There is also a distinct difference in the way mixed fuel smells.

When I graduated high school in 1979, there was really only one choice for an able bodied young man in my town. That choice was the construction trades. Yes, this could use a little help. It is currently determined state by state. In Arizona, wait staff can make as little as $2.50 per hour in tip receiving positions, but here in Oregon, the state minimum wage of $7.95 per hour must be paid, tips or no. There should definitely be a federal law to level the playing field.

Can someone explain to me how a "turbo" works on a car....and if you don't go "balls out"...does it still use more gas?
An engine draws air and fuel through it's intake manifold. In most engines, this is done through the natural vacuum created by the intake stroke of the pistons. A turbocharger (turbo for short) is an exhaust driven pump that creates pressure in the intake manifold, cuasing the engine to use less of it's own power simply to move air/fuel. If driven in a relatively calm manner, this...
