Answer to:
What do you think is the right amount of suspension lift for a '94 Range Rover Classic without losing its handling on road.
I have a 87 Classic Range Rover with a 2 inch lift on it and big off road tyres. It has polly bushes to help with the highway bodyroll, and if you drive it as a 4WD rather than a sedan, you should keep out of trouble. The other suggestion would be wider rims and tyres, and stiffer sway/anti-roll bars. Also you can use stiffer shocks and springs, however that will effect it's off road...

My 6 and 4 year old boys told me that their baby sitter has been touching their penises, they told me that she pulls their pants down and touches them, should i tell her parents or call the police? do you think they made this up or is she really touching
I think you should not only call the police but also the government authorities that deal with Childrens Services/Child protective Services. If the babysitter is not doing anything wrong, then the issue will resolve itself in time. If Things aren't good, and the babysitter is abusing the children, then all efforts should be made to ensure that your children, nor anyone elses are not put at...

Have you ever had an operation and if so how old where you?
I've had alot of operations over the years and some fairly serious ones lasting hours. The prep for an op can be off-putting, during the op you feel nothing and I kind of enjoy it because you go into a really deep sleep. There is a degree of discomfort after the operation, mainly if you either have tubes stuck down your throat or an IV in your arm. (IV's aren't too bad) The...

If you were on a plane and it was going to crash, would have a better chance of surivival if you crashed on land or on the water?
Well there are so many things to take into concideration, however if you live through the crash, then at least you might get to walk away on land. More rescue people can attend a land crash than a water/sea crash. The chances of surviving a water landing isn't good, plus there may be quite some time before rescue arrives, leaving you swimming on a fairly large ocean.

I would have to say someone like Pol Pot. Many if histories "evil" people got caught, tried and executed for their crimes. It seems wrong that those like Pol Pot went unpunished and ignored by other countries around the world. There are plenty of evil people in the world today, killing innocent women and children. We alway look into our past, but the present is just as bad.

When if ever do you feel abortion is the right decision?
Personally i think no, but i'm not a female nor have been aware of a female freind been raped, or in a situation of unwanded pregnancy. I feel however that the reason for having children is getting less and less. The less value we put on children, reflects as we raise them. Also adoption should be easier as it would solve two problems. It would present another option to mothers would...

I'm a single father that just got laid off, money is short for now and I need to know, what are some cheap fun things I can do, at home, with my two year old daughter?
Firstly, sorry to hear you got laid off. I look after a two year old, three and four year old (not all at once) and often the simple things (and not expensive) are the best. For quite some time I've brought, if i have some spare change, a toy car at the supermarket. There about $1.50 each. Over a time you have a lot of them, and that make great car parks etc. Bunnings have empty cardboard...

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with one defective tire. The dealer says I can't replace one tire, I must replace all four. Is this true, and why?
I wouldn't think so. If it is the front tire, check both front tires for wear. Generally I buy tires in twos so the tread pattern is the same and even. This improves the handling and makes stopping the car far safer. Unless it's a manufacturing fault, someones just trying to sell you things you don't need.

What rules did you have to make in your house that you never thought you would have to. My example: "Never squeeze the dog until he pees"
"Don't push buttons". Young children who stand there turning the lights on and off none stop. Also walking around the house turning all the lights on. It's also a good one for leaving DVD/cable tv selectors/TV's combo's alone so you don't spend the next hour re-tuning the system back in.

Why does sometimes my car stall when i slow down, stop at a light or stop sign?
It could fuel starvation, where not enough fuel is getting to the engine when you are not putting your foot on the gas pedal (pumping fuel to the engine) This could be that the car needs a tune up, or that the fuel pump is wearing out or something wrong with/in the fuel line. There are a number of other reasons why cars stall whilst slowing down, but they would be a few of the first things I...

"In the beginning" God created the Heavens and the Earth and everything on the Earth, including mankind as we know it. It's an answer that requires faith. No, war is never the answer. The American's hated the Japanese for the attack on Pearl Harbour and in flicking the most pain on a relentless army was in their eyes justified. Personally I think that abortion is a sin. In my eyes abortion is a way out of a unwanted pregnancy. However how the woman got pregnant is the question. As with the first answer;
You have the Right to remain silent, Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law.
You have the right to speak to an attorney and to have an attorney present during questioning (although at times this is only if you are arrested, and not just brought to a police station for questioning, which quite often can result in you being arrested and/or charged)...

Besides police cars, fire trucks and ambulances, why are cars built to go to unsafe speeds, when the law doesn't allow it?
The car industry is a world market these days, and speed limits vary from country to country. However most countries do have spped limits far lower that the capabilities of modern cars. Firstly, Speed sells. Also, the ability of an engine to reach the speed limit in a short time both helps with traffic flow, and sell cars!

I think the truth is important, and as chilren grow older, there appreciation and understanding of what is real and what is not will mean alot. Deflecting a story from the Easter Bunny to the story behind Easter Eggs is not only true, but has a great meaning. Likewise with Santa. The Tooth fairy I'm just sure about!

That’s a very good question! I received a speeding ticket for going 45 in a 35. I was going down a very steep hil and do not feel that it was fare. Does anyone have any advice on a argument to beat this ticket?
Most Police forces seem to have the same attitude towards vehicles that travel over the posted speed limit. There is a small "gap" to allow for old or faulty speedo's, however traveling at ten over does not really leave you with much to work on. And unfortunately the Police do use gravity to their advantage. I would keep a closer eye out for the posted speed limits. Also...

If it's so impossible that the Earth just came into being why is it so much more believable that god just suddenly appeared to create Earth?
Almost all cultures believe in some form of "higher being". We are more likely to believe that we, the human race started and had control over everything, rather than the mind boggling thought that somehow the Earth came to be due to a "big bang" The scope of that is so great, we can't wrap our minds around it. Nor do we understand the science behind the big bang...

I agree with prominsky, kids where used as cheap labour back then. Also in poorler countries, although the thinking doesn't make any sense, they thought that the more children they had, at least one would survive to adulthood, providing a income for the rest of the family. Also birth control was unheard of and large families where more common.

How often depends on what kind of car you drive, how you drive the car and what kind of road conditions you drive on. If you drive on well-maintained sealed roads and highways most of the time, again the shocks are doing less work....

What's the most common question asked?
I guess the answer would be something along the lines of "how are you?" or "how are you going?" It's a general "closed" introduction question that is easy to answer and doesn't require any details. You can also give a false answer and no one is any the wiser.

How would you explain the reality to a kid who wants to go to the North Pole for summer vacation?
It depends on the age of the child, but as they grow older they can understand things such as the North Pole is a very cold place and even in the middle of summer the temperature is still below freezing. The Santa story for me is a tough one. There's a great deal of enjoyment for young children in the notion that Santa's coming, and can be a great aide in bringing children and parents closer...

What does the phrase "Catch 22" mean and what is its origin?
Catch 22 is a popular book made into a movie of the same name. Basically it's a way the army used to stop soldiers from getting out of the army based on mental instability grounds. The first part of the rule/catch is that: The army does not enlist persons that are mentally insatiable. The second part of the catch is: Therefore you can not be granted a discharge from the army based solely...

Is there really a difference between "having sex" and "making love"?
I tend to agree with the first reply here. Having sex is in my mind, is short for having sexual intercourse. The "art" of making love may well incorperate sex, but covers a far wider field of love and sexual feelings shared between two people. I trust this is of some help to you.

Why do children play with a cardboard box when they have a room full of expensive toys?
Children have little concept of value, and what they sometimes see is the fun in something, in what it is, or what it can be, rather than relevant to it's cost value. I've heard plenty of stories where the parents have brought a motorized toy car for their child, and he's played with the box it came in for hours. It all has to do with imagination, so please, let your child’s...

How do I get my bikini bottoms to stay on when swimming?
Ok, I'm a guy, so that puts me into the "no-idea" category. I would guess that it has to do with the hips and the shape of the "rear end." Clothes need something to "grab" onto. Although the development of materials has advanced over the years, wet clothing and gravity still are a person’s worst enemy. As in the other entry, I think firm, but not to the point...

There would have been a drop in the number of persons with mental handicaps (intellectual disabilities) at the end of world War two in direct relation to the number of persons alive at the start of the war. The Nazis killed or abandoned many thoughout the war. Some where used in inhumane experiments, some either shot or injected with poison, some would have died either from starvation or from a...

How should one remove a child's urine stains from the floor of a shower?
I would think that most children who have a pee in the shower, do so when the waters running. I guess that any of the household cleaning products like White King or any tile cleaner would help make the tiles look brighter and keep them cleaner.

I at first would think the answer would be no, but in thinking about the question, there may be some ways in which it might be possible. The first might be the strangest. I must admit I am not an expert in this field, but there are basics that apply to any form of filming. Things I would be thinking about might be, what quality do you want the filming/video to be? I agree with the other answer. You would also need to see if the frame of your vehicle would support the four-wheel drive conversion. Loose can also refer to the response time from when a driver puts his foot on the gas pedal, to the car increasing in speed, or the same with the brakes. What is the provisional pole?
Yes, provisional pole is given to the first driver that does a qualifying lap (hot lap) which will determine in what position he/she will be on the grid. But since that is the first car to do the lap, there are many more to follow. Some will be faster, others slower. Until the entire field has done their hot lap, anyone could be on the number one starting grid.
Answer to:
What does it mean to win the pole?
The other answer there is correct. Often there will be a "hot lap" in which each driver gets one lap to get the best time possible. There is also in Australian motorsport a thing called a "shoot-out." Here the top ten drivers get another shot at the fastest time. There are practice sessions as well so teams can both prepare and fine tune their cars (or repair them)

Why is a boat's steering wheel typically on the right?
The origin of term comes from old boating practices. Before boats had rudders on their centerline, boats were steered by use of a specialized oar. This meant that the right-handed sailors holding the steering...

It depends on if you are a male or female. I'm a male so I'll give you my answer. I would have two towels and a face washer. I have a tough soap called "solvol" which I use first. I'm left handed so the right hand gets cleaned first. I do a palm to finger rubbing motion, then a cross the palm motion. Then I wash each finger one at a time. I rotate the hand so both sides...

If a policeman is on holiday outside his usual jurisdiction, does he still have any police powers?
I think so. Theres a saying that a policeman is always on duty. You hear stories of out duty policemen who happen to be in the right place at the right time and make a citizen's arrest. Also, if there is some kind of trouble, a policeman is trained in dealing with those kind of situations.
Answer to:
Where can I find current pictures of former (i.e. "where are they now?") celebrities?
You can also buy books such as "Whatever became of" which runs through various celebrities and what they are doing. I have the eighth series so I'm guessing they are updated often.
Answer to:
How can you tell if a celebrity's autograph is authentic?
The best way to be sure, is to hand them the pen and a piece of paper and have a camera. There's a site on the Internet (which I can't find at the moment, sorry) that is one guy's private celebrity's autograph collection. He finds out where celebrities are going to be and not only gets the autograph, but he takes a photo of the celebrity writing the autograph. The thing...

Did Harry Houdini really die in the Chinese water torture trick?
Houdini stated that he could withstand a punch in the stomach from anyone. It is believed that given prier warning, he could flex his stomach muscles and take the hit. However a young fan asked the question and swung at him at the same time. Although at the time Houdini was winded, the blow was far more serious then at first though. In fact his appendix burst. In addition, Houdini had been in...

I'm not sure. It is very hard to answer some questions, without seeing exactly what it is. If you where recording scene's walking down the street or in a market place and there was music played somewhere in the background, then I think the answer is no. If you walked into a store and they where playing a song, maybe, but I doubt it. If you walked into a music store and asked for a...

In reading the other answers to this question, two is an interesting age. Can I suggest a few thoughts? Young children understand the concept of give and receive. If a child has just seen or heard you throwing up, they may be worried or scared. How should you comfort them?
I have a disabilty, and I take the time to explain why I can't do this or that. Sometimes children think that parents are perfect and nothing ever goes wrong. The truth is, it does. It shows the human side to a child, that we all can faulter. We all need to be cared for. I would thank your daugther for her concern, but reasuring her that you are okay. Why is it called a cell phone in America and a mobile phone in Australia?
Hi, I'm an Australian. Here we have a fairly "laid-backed approch to just about everything. The word "mobile" just caught on and we have been using it ever since. If I told someone I would contact them sometime durning the day, I would say, I'll call you on my mobile"

It can. I live in Australia and brought a new mobile phone about six months ago. "Three" had a range of phones I could choose from, and I choice an LG's

Is it a crime to dial 911 by mistake?
If you dial 911 from a landline, dispatchers automatically know where the phone call came from. I heard a story where a bunch of kids where dialing 911 then hanging up, just for the fun of it. I think they ended up having to do some community work and the parents had to pay a fine.
Here in Australia, you dial 000 for emergencies. I think, because kids watch so much television from the states,...

Do parents ever look at their kids and think, gee, what ugly kids I have?
I think some parents must think "how unfortunate" when comparing another child's looks against their own child. Some mothers who enter their children into modeling competitions or beauty pageants must realize that their own child will never win many trophies. So often kids are picked on a school for "looking different" and parents must be aware of why their kids cope...

I have found that anger and depression go together hand in hand. It's often a feeling of uselessness and the built-up frustration that there is nothing you can do to solve a problem. It also can be the lack of ability to change a situation that in your eyes is wrong or inefficient . We are taught from a young age, that there's a solution to every problem. (Guess what, there...

Can I play a European PAL video on a US VHS player?
As mentioned in the answer, basically, no. I've brought a PAL/NTSC VCR so it will play an American tape. If you planning on moving from one country to another which has the different system, leave the VCR to a friend. VCr's are becoming throw-away items with DVD recorders so I would invest in one.
Answer to:
What is the difference between the European PAL system and the American NTSC system?
Don't kill me when I say this, but the PAL system is fair superior to the NTSC's system. The picture quality is just so much better. I live in Australia, which has the PAL format, but have traveled to the States a couple of times. The two things that really caught my eye, are how many commercials’ you have, and the poor colour quality on most television sets including brand...

Answer to:
Why can't I record a 2 1/2 hour show on a 6 hour VHS tape with the tape speed at SLP or SP?
Another thought is that you are bordering on the maximum video tape length. Personally I would use a three-hour tape and record on standard play/record. The tape is being stretched to it's maximum and if the tape is getting old, it most likely won't record an even, clear picture. If the video recorder is getting old, that will make things worse too. The timing will be out and the...

A tape is stuck in my VCR. How can I remove it?
VCR's are generally throwaway items these days with DVD recorders. The other answers are helpful, however you can end up with a lot of pieces of your VCR spread over the living room floor. I live in Australia so the answer might not apply, however when you apply for you're child to attend to the school, you give permission for the school under a "duty of care" to examine if they feel there is something generally wrong with the child that needs immediate attention. Whether that be a fall off the schools play equipment, to the possibility of abuse.

Have you sat down with your children and asked them what they like eating? Although some kids are slow eaters and play with their food, adding variety to meals may help make meal times more enjoyable for all concerned. I'm suggesting you are a bad cook, but if there are special meals your kids love, then you can work on some kind of reward chart for good behaviour. I know that in many...

My child has lice. What is the most likely way she could have gotten them? A cat? At school?
I would guess at school. Children coming within close contact with each other are an easy way to pass lice from one child to another. Most schools should have resources to combat lice and have lice "kits." One child who lives in a less than satisfactory living environment can catch lice from anywhere, including pets. If you are sure that your child has lice, tell the school as quickly...

It depends on what you plan doing with the truck. If it's for better off road handling, then if handled with care, you should be able to do some really serious rock climbing. The more you raise the truck off the ground; the worse are it's handling characteristics. I would suggest that you take care with road driving. I replaced a 10 amp fuel pump fuse with a 15 amp on my 1986 Chevy S-10 truck, and it seems to work fine. How long will this work without failing?
I would be careful about replacing fuses with those with a higher amp. The voltage that powers various items in cars has been figured out by the manufacture, If too much amperage is drawn, it will over-heat the wiring. The worse case scenario would be an electrical fire. If the wiring on the truck hasn't been "played with" I might guess that nothing will happen and the higher...

Have you heard the saying, "I can't get this thing to work for love nor money" These two are intertwined and seem to be the centre of our lives.
Whether the human failure is relating to relationships, personal or financial goals, at some point we need to re-adjust where we are going and what we are hoping to achieve. I at times use the funny phrase, "there is no number...

If time travel will be invented in the future, wouldn't we be aware of it today?
I love time travel questions. Most of the television shows or movies that deal with time travel, at some point they lose the plot. Forgetting about the "how" for the moment, the question is, if it where possible, could it be kept a secret? The rewards of seeing into the past or into the future would I think be too much to bare. We could go back to the time of Mose. If we where able to...

What are some forms of "road rage" and how can it be illegal?
Road rage is also when someone who is outraged at the actions of another driver, uses his/her own car as a weapon to retaliate. This can be as simple as giving the driver a knuge at the next set of traffic lights, it might be trying to cut into the lane you are in, but often to turns into something far more serious. This first phase may be considered to be traffic violations. They are often...

In Australia there a law stating that persons with disabilities can stay parked in a timed parking bay for twice the time allowed as per the sign. Generally speaking, anything the police can think of and anything that will rack in more dollars for the government. Loud sound systems, wide tyres, cars the ride too low to the ground, loud exhaust systems, number (license) plates poorly lit at night, burnouts. In the earlier days V8's where all the go. Well it's an interesting question! I pulled over to see if there was anything I could do to assist a hearse driver who’s' hearse had broken down, with the "customer" in the back. I stare at a computer monitor all day. What can I do to reduce eye strain?
There should be work safe practice or OHS (occupational health and safety) rules that say you can only stay at your work station for a certain period of time, then have a break. There are also eye exercises that can be done from your work station that help relax the eye muscles. Another thing is finding something of interest on the other side of the room and focus on it every so often. I worked...

Hi, I live in Melbourne, Australia and about ten or fifteen years ago, all taxi's where painted yellow. A couple of years ago some yellow taxis with green roofs started to appear. Will previous termination of a car insurance policy affect whether I can get insurance through another company in Ohio?
That's a hard question to answer not knowing any of the facts regarding this question. I don't live in America, but I'm having a guess that most insurance policies are basiclly the same. First I would say include all the details of the termination. If you are involved in a vehicle accident and the insurance company finds out, they most likely will not pay out, which could mean...

My guess would be to hold the bowl still. My dog does this with his food bowl when he's getting to the bottom of the bowl and wants to lick up every last drop of food. I've also seen him pushing a lighter plastic bowl around too (That's why I brought a heavier bowl)

My guess would be "small talk" If you’re in a hotel room or on a public phone, you are less likely to break out in to some long story. Mostly it's "how are you going?" "Whats the weather like there?" "How are the kids?" "Did the meeting go well?" Phone sex and cyber sex are getting more popular if it's long distance, the time...

I think it could be possible but at great expense and with a great amount of knowledge about that species of fish. Sometimes fish seem to resign themselves to their fate and slowly die (like whales or dolphins beaching themselves) If fish have feelings, I'm sure they would be more at home...

Answer to:
Why do young boys masturbate?
Young boys masturbate or "play with themselves" because they like the feel of their own penis. It may well be pleasurable but with young children, say before they reach nine or ten, getting an erection may be as far as they get. Of course boys mature at different times and greater sexual pleasure can be achieved.

This sounds like a question of commitment. Younger people may jump from one boyfriend/girlfriend to the next which may work. But if theres no depth in a relationship, you may be in it for the sex, rather than true love. Your partner has to be your best friend. If there's true love in a relationship, you both love each other and are bound to each other, then follow your heart.

I suppose that if you knew the end was near, or wanted to end your own life in a different way, you could go to some remote spot on the planet and die. Your body might not be found for decades. The Australian movie, "The Earthling" covers this very point. An old man (played by William Holden) is on his last legs and treks to his favourite mountains to die in peace.

If a television commercial is being filmed using a movie camera, the movie camera shoots film at 24 frame per second. Yes, but more than that, ambulance and fire trucks can change the lights to green every time they leave their station. They also in some countries change lights as they come to an intersection.
Also Traffic lights are programed to change depending on what time of the day it is. Also in built up areas, traffic controls can change the lights to either free up traffic flow and reduce "bottle...

Which franchise has made more money overall, "Star Trek" or "Star Wars"?
This is a question which is almost too hard to answer. I had a quick look at eBay, as it's always a good tool to tell you what's selling and what's not. At present (22 Dec 2005) there are 37,957 Star Wars related items for auction. There are "only" 10, 834 items for Star Trek up for auction. Star Trek started earlier than Star Wars and Star Trek as a number of...

Answer to:
Is it possible to train yourself to need less sleep?
I beleive the answer is yes, and the way in which I sleep less, is being aware of the time. I have two clocks by the bed (one battery operated in case of power failure) Often if I know I have to get up at a certain time to go somewhere, I will wake up before the alarm goes off. The bodies "alarm clock" is so aware of the time, that if say, I want to wake up at 6:00am (when I normally...
Answer to:
If aliens do exist, what are the chances that they look exactly like us?
I would agree with the first answer that, we are all created in the likeness of God. For those who believe in Charles Darwins Theroy of natural selection (not the theroy of evolution as some call it) suggests that we evolve from "some other life force." Since no one can prove this theroy, I beleive the Bible provides me with enough belief to realise that the Human body is THE greatest...

What are some of the strangest things that some people collect?
In Australia about ten years ago, a hoax collection was started when people where asked to save the plastic ties on loafs of bread. The story was something along the lines that there was a sick child in hospital and (I have no idea why) saving these plastic ties was either going to help raise money when recycled or something. Anyway the word got around and the hoax lasted about six months....
Answer to:
Is there a difference between a street and an avenue?
In general either the size or the distance of the "road" states it's name. A highway is longer than a freeway, a road is longer than a street, a avenue is longer than a lane. Basically larger to smaller.
Answer to:
What's the difference between a highway and a freeway?
I live in Australia where we drive on the left side of the road. Both freeways and highways can have on and off ramps, barriers in between directional traffic, traffic lights emergeny stopping lanes and telephones. It is generally accepted that a Highway is a road which takes you from one town or state, to another. Freeways are also a lot shorter in length than a highway and can be tollways.

Answer to:
Is it true that all graves in a cemetery face East? If so, why?
The direction that a grave faces in Australia depends on the plan or layout of the cemetery. Although newer cemeteries are landscaped so (in general) all the graves are in rows facing the same direction, older cemeteries graves face in different directions. My mother is buried in a cemetery which is over 100 years old. The graves face all four directions. As the cemetery grew and expanded it...
