If you break a mirror and don't see your reflection, what does this mean? The superstition of breaking a mirror while looking into it is that you break your soul. It IS possible to not be looking into it when it is broken, for example, if the wind blows it over in the night and it smashes upside down, (therefore you cannot see your reflection, which by the way would not bring bad luck because it was not your fault it was blown over) then you would not get bad luck....
