Which of Penn and Peng is better as a first name? Thanks!? I am a guy, not a kid. My original name is Pengsheng. Which short do you like? Thanks a lot!
I like both. It depends on what you are trying to acheive. Penn has more of an English sound to it while Peng retains the ethnic flavor of the full name. I woudl lean toward Peng as being more yours, less common, and therefore hard to forget.

Does stealing another woman's husband make you a WHORE?
No, but it does make you guilty of bad judgement. A relationship that is based on someone else's pain has a very shaky foundation.

Do you own a flour sifter? Is it really important that such an item be used when adding flour to recipes?
It really depends on what you are making. Most flour now is so finely milled, it doesn't really need it for most things. However, if you are making a particulalry delicate cake or souffle, that sifting can be quite important. Older recipes call for sifting because older milling methods were not as good.

Do you judge people when they use poor grammar?
I once stopped dating a guy because he said "they was". It drove me insane. However, I didn't think he was stupid. I just knew that at some point I was going to scream, "They were! They were! Subject and verb must agree!!!!!" I didn't think that would be conducive to peaceful relationship. LOL!!!! So I guess that was more a judgement of me.

I am a huge Monty Python fan and viewed the death of Graham Chapman as the loss of a great treasure. Though I have enjoyed the work of the surviving members, the whole was definitely more than the sum of its parts. Although I do think Terry Gilliam has emerged as an amazing film maker.

I had a horrible time in school. I have red hair, freckles and I'm smart - talk about asking for it. And I made some bad choices in response to it. However; all of that goes into making me who I am now and I like me. So....no frustration...no regrets...only lessons learned and hopefully passed on to my children. How difficult do you think it is to be monogamous for life?
Just as difficult as keeping any commitment. It's a choice. Some mornings love is effortless, some mornings you choose to love. It's a road. There are curves, strightaways, speedbumps, unpaved sections, cracks, and unmapped areas, but the discoveries along the way are well worth the journey.

Dark chocolate is an antioxidant and I find this an excellent excuse to have a piece every day! LOL! I'm also sure my husband sees the benefits, as it really perks me up and my daughter is just as big a chocoholic as I am. There is no problem a little chocolate can't make better! LOL!!!!!
Answer to:
Is having a born again missionary as President a violation of church-state separation?
This is the real problem, in my opinion anyway: Separation of church and state is not in the constitition - anywhere. It is a phrase lifted from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson and it was about protecting the church from the government, not the government from the church. At the time there were church services held in the basement of the same building that housed the government. So it...

What's the latest thing you bought that you'd advise others NOT to buy because. . . .?
The One Touch can opener. I have arthritis and this looked like it would be great for me, BUT it doesn't work well at all. It stops and starts and you have to keep messing with it to get it to work properly. The worst thing about it is if it stops in the middle of opening a can and you can't get it started again, it is almost impossible to get it off the can. DO NOT BUY THIS GADGET!

Why do people always associate gay and lesbian relationships with sex?? Why can't people comprehend gay/lesbian love?
Which "people" are you referring to? I understand love in all of it's guises - the sex of the person loving has nothing to do with understanding their realtionships. What blocks understanding is fear. When we fear something, it helps to put it in the basest terms. Gays are not the first to suffer this and unfortunately will not be the last. I find it helps not to worry about the...

First of all KUDOS! to you for going to the pound for your pet. Now, most shelters have a get acquainted area - use it. Pay close attention to the dogs interactions and reactions. Yes, when I was a kid. My dad loves the stuff and he made me try it - UGH! too salty. FYI: It is popular in Hawaii because Hawaii was the staging ground for the Pacific front in World War II. I don't know if "actor" is the right term. John Wayne was John Wayne whatever he was in - his skill was in picking parts where that worked for him. It's like the idea of communism - you read about it and it sounds wonderful - all equal and everybody sharing and living in harmony. My mom wouldn't let me paint my nails when I was a kid so I did it with crayons. I couldn't wait until I was old enough to use nail polish. Walk away. Never stay with a guy who says one thing to you and another to your friends. Don't settle for a relationship that is not good for you just because it's there and it's safe. Do yourself a favor, make a list of the qualities you want in a man. Then use it - don't settle for less. Might take longer to find the right guy, but you'll be glad you waited.

Closer, definitely closer. I find it interesting that so many people blame God when bad things happen in our lives. "If He is so loving, why would He allow this to happen?" We are not puppets on strings, we make our own choices. We make our own world and,as such, are responsible for the things that happen in it. He has to earn your trust - the burden is on him. Trust is so important in realationships. The people are friendly, the food is very good and the scenery is gorgeous!! It is also relatively inexpensive. The open air markets are a lot of fun and offer some amazing deals on all kinds of...

Art is a very subjective thing. A black velvet Elvis is art if you appreciate it. The ability to find beauty and/or meaning in a created object is inherently human and as long as we have that ability - art will survive.

Is there a certain/special Veteran that you will be remembering this weekend?
My great-uncle Samuel Herbert Gertsch served in WWII as a navy corpsmen attached to a marine unit in the Pacific. He was part of the third wave to hit the beach and was wounded on Iwo Jima after 13 days on the island and later served as part of the occupation force in Japan. My father served as a marine in the Korean conflict and my son is currently serving in Iraq. But, all deserve to be...

My 6 year old daughter is currently attending public school, but I make it a point to be involved - get to know her teachers, audit classes from time to time, do homework with her. Her father and I are also active participants in her education. Maddie explores science and math with her father and art and language with me. How do Ativisims work?
An atavism is a real or supposed evolutionary throwback, or in plain english: traits reappearing that have not been seen for generations. The theory is that the genes for previously existing traits are still present within the DNA structure even though they are not currently expressed. However; since they are still there, they can still be expressed. For example: dolphins born with hind legs or...

Do you do household chores eg dust/hoover/mop floors etc, daily or do you wait until the weekend?
I have a large house, so if I don't do some maintainance daily, it can quickly become overwhelming. I break it up in groups - dusting and vacuuming one day, bathrooms, the next, kitchen and bedrooms...etc. with some things that have to be done everyday - dishes....etc. However, being an artist, I do have to have studio time, so the schedule is flexible. There are also times I blow off...

No, because we are equal in our differences. We are made to balance one another and when we don't try to compete, but just be what we are - we balance very well.
But I will give you the 3 points I can give for the attempt to flatter. It won't get you anywhere, but ......LOL!

Do you believe children should be "smacked" when they are naughty?
Spanking, when properly used can be very effective. Note I said when properly used. It should never be done in anger and only in response to deliberate disobedience - not for childish irresponsibility. Before the age of 2 and after the age of 5, it is really neither necessary or very effective. Time outs and natural consequences are much better after the age of 5 and prior to 2 what the heck...

Why can't women ever make fun of themselves with the exception of maybee 0.5% of the female population?
You have to be comfortable in your own skin to laugh at yourself. If you buy into society's idea of what you should look like - it's hard to be comfortable. An interesting study I read several yerars ago stated that 90% of men were satisfied with their appearance whereas only 3% of women were. It took me a while to really like me, but I made it and I crack myself up on a regular basis.

Have you ever got to the stage where you dont think you got any love left to give(relationship wise)
Yes, women often find themselves feeling that way. We give to everyone around us - it's in our nature to care for others - our children, our friends. our husbands, boyfriends...etc. Unfortunately we often forget to care for ourselves so periodically the well runs dry and must be replenished. So, do something just for yourself, for a few hours, at least once a week. Take a long bubble bath,...

I do not think the issue is whether or not they make us more violent. Rather, whether or not they are desensitizing our children to violence, to where it seems commonplace, almost normal. You answered your own question. People do not educate themselves. It is easier to swallow what they're told and not question it. Actually checking on the veracity of something takes more time and effort than they want to expend. We live in an instant gratification society. They want their information in easy to digest sound bites. Anything longer and they "are over it".

If it's been about 6 weeks, she's due. Cats have been having kittens for 100's of years without any help from us. Unless there are complications, she will be fine. However, it is better if you can be there just in case. The address below has all the info you need on what to look for etc. Hope this helps.

What would be the most stressful profession in our society?
I think police have a really stressful job. They put their lives on the line on a daily basis. The few who screw up get all the press. They are not given the freedom they need to do their job properly and are critisized for it. They arrest people they know are guilty only to watch some lawyer get them off with a slap on the wrist. They see the worst society has to offer all the time and are...

How can you tell the difference between a kleptomaniac and 'just a thief'? (I'm not trying to dismess kleptomania- I really want to know.)
A kleptomaniac steals to satisfy an emotional insufficiency so they will steal things they do not need, do not want, and from anywhere. The point is to steal - not what is being stolen. A thief is someone who steals for personal gain.

One year I actually had them all written and sent by December 1st! Unfortunately, that is the exception instead of the rule. Most of the time, they go in the mail a few days before Christmas. The problem is I cannot just address an envelope. Each one has to be hand decorated. Last year, when my husband was ill, I tried to dispense with the decoration, but couldn't do it. Does it bother you when someone says "He's the lesser of the evils"? Should we really have to settle for choosing someone less evil (yet still evil) rather than someone not evil?
Yes, it bothers me. No, we shouldn't have to settle. But, if you cast your vote for someone who is not viable, you might as well not vote. So you end up choosing the lesser of the two evils. It's a vicious circle. Of course, it does show a modicum of honesty to admit one is still evil... or it's just a clever ploy to make us think they're honest. These days who can tell?!

Most of us do not dignify offensive questions with a response. Maybe you should try that as well. To give something attention, validates it to a certain degree.

Answer to:
Why are people entertained by murder?
It reminds them of how precious their life is and how glad they are to have it. It gives them a taste of danger without really having to be in danger. Depending on the manner of murder, it gives them a chance to pat themselves on the back for their virtue and good sense - (that would never happen to me!)
The reasons are as varied as the people who are watching.

NO!!!! NO!!!!! NO!!!! A father can crush his daughter's spirit very easily. A girl will see herself as her father sees her. This image of herself will determine how she interacts with the world. The greatest gift a father can give a daughter is confidence and the secure knowledge that she is not only loved, but loveable.

Yes, it was much more violent than I expected, but I loved the film. It was haunting and stayed with me for days. My sister and I went back and forth over whether or not she was really dead or had in fact, returned to her "World". Grim, but marvelous!

If you keep missing work, your boss might take the decision out of your hands by firing you. Maybe it's time for a change. Shop your resume around and see if you get any bites. Minimize contact with this co-worker as much as possible. Ugly, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I have known some really good looking men who becames really unattractive after I got to know them and some not very attractive men that just kept getting better and better. When you get to know someone, who they are inside becomes as much a part of what you see as their actual physical self.

If she is shaking her ears a lot, it could be a hematoma. And, if she is shaking her ears alot, it is an indication of ear mites. You should take her to the vet. It's not life threatening, but it is uncomfortable for her.

Remind her that it is your wedding. You don't have to be mean about it, but be firm. If she doesn't listen, turn on the automatic nod when she is telling you what you should do and then do what you want anyway. Your finace should help you with this, after all it's his mom. Do you have to have known someone for a long time to think you are falling for them?
No, but you have to know them a long time before you are sure you have. The first three months of dating are the "honeymoon" period. Everybody is on their best behavior. You want to push past that before you get really serious with someone. You do not really know someone until you have seen them at their worst with all their faults. If you still love them then - it's for real.

Why do people not empathize with others?
We have become an extremely self centered society. So it is not surprising to me that empathy is rare. It's hard enough to find sympathy. You have to be able to set aside your own needs and feelings in order to truly understand the needs and feelings of another. We talk a lot more about it than we use to, but seem to do it a lot less. I find that very interesting...sad...but interesting.

Black widows are very solitary spiders. So your husband is probably right about it being the only one. Antibiotics have little or no effect on a virus - aside from the psychological "I must be getting better, I am taking medicine" boost.

I saw a young boy about aged 8 on my holidays he had both his legs from his toes to the tops of his legs encased in thick and heavy looking plaster casts with his legs spread extreamly wide apart and held with 2 plaster cross bars.Anyone know what for?
He was probably born with some malformation of the bones in his legs. As children's bones are quite malleable, they can often correct the problem with casting, thereby encouraging the bones to grow straight. Some surgery may also have been required prior to casting.

People are fallible and will always fail you no matter how hard they try. To depend on someone else for your happiness places an unfair burden on that person. When they fail, and they will, it leads to anger and resentment. If you believe in God, depend on Him - He is not fallible.

Will a female eagle will take a rock high into the sky and drop it to a prospective mate to see if he can catch it so that she can determine if he would catch their babies if they fall or are pushed out of the nest?
Although their mating rituals can include some amazing aerobatics, I have never heard of this before.

Could a fire ant bite on the paw make my dog's whole leg sore (he limps) two weeks later?
Is the leg inflamed and hot to the touch? I don't know that much about fire ant bites, but if the above is true, the leg is infected and you need to take him to the vet pronto.

Nobody but nobody better answer this after me! LOL!!! I think it's the need to be right and to convince others of that rightness that compels us to that one last parting shot.

I was watching Scooby-Doo one day and a friend of mine who is a Pentacostal said it was evil because Scooby can talk. Do some Christians really believe this? (she was very serious her Pastor preached a sermon on Scooby-Doo.)
You can find evil in anything, if you're looking for it. Unfortuntely, we spend a lot of time looking for it. As a Christian, I often shudder at the antics of the moronic few that make us look and sound ridiculous. I had a friend tell me my dragon pictures were evil. I said, "hello...not real...doesn't exist...it's a picture..."

What should parents do if their children are having trouble during their divorce?
All of the above with this caveat - make sure they know it is okay to love both their parents. Don't make them choose sides. And above all make sure they know that even though mommy and ddady might not love each other anymore, your love for them will not end.

How do you prevent your feet from getting bigger?
Well the Chinese considered tiny feet to be beautiful -in women only, mind you - so they bound the feet of girl children with strips of cloth to prevent them from growing. This produced very tiny feet that were impossible to walk on and were hideously deformed underneath those dainty little wrappings. Not to mention that it was painful! This practice was finally outlawed. The moral of this...

I used to be a Christian until we moved into a rental apartment and we had to get rid of our dog and the Lord wouldnt have allowed me to suffer such heartbreak so I no longer believe in him if he is real then why did he let me loose my dog?
For the same reason good things happen to bad people and vice versa. No one was promised a road free from trouble. We were promised strength to withstand all the bumps in the road. I have friends that lost their 4 year old son last Christmas and their faith is stronger than ever. They understand that God isn't up there waiting to see what He can throw at us to make us slip up. We live in...

How many here have read "the Hobbit" ? a prelude to the lord of the rings trilogy?
I read it years ago. My mom turned me onto it when she saw what a bookworm I was. After I finished it, I went straight into the Lord of the Rings, then the Simarillion. I have all the books and re-read them periodically when I really just want to lose myself in story. (except for the Silmarillion, which is good for background, but quite difficult to read all at once, but with gems of story here...

Not to sound disgusting but..My pregnant beagle just went outside for her bedtime potty and I noticed when she was done there was "goo" coming from her girl parts. Did her water just break or is that something that just happens?
Sounds like she lost her mucous plug. This happens prior to the water breaking. Is she due? Because you are going to be having puppies very soon - usually within the next 24 hours.

Are you excited or depressed that Xmas is only 2 months away?
A little of both. One of my sons is in Iraq and a lot of my family can't make it this year. (They are in CA and I am in KY) But, I love buying gifts, I have a show coming up at a great gallery, and I always have my husband. Plus my daughter never fails to delight me and my oldest son will be here. I guess the glass is neither half empty nor half full - it is simply a little too big this year!

He's not that into you or he would date you. I don't doubt that he likes you, but not enough. There's nothing wrong with him - he's saying no in a nice way. Find someone who appreciates you.

My BFspent all wknd telling me how much he wants to see me but can't bc his Gma is in town. I saw him for 20 min but all we did was have sex. He said he's been busy all wknd but now just told me he's at a study group last minute. Am I missing something?
Yes, your self respect. Actions speak louder than words and he just told you all you need to know. Find someone who wants to spend time with you, not just your body. Sex is great, but it is not the sum total of who you are and, I am willing to bet, the sex will be better, richer and more satisfying with someone who cares about the whole you.

Is there such a thing as "love at first sight"?
Yes, but it isn't love, it's biology - a pure chemical reaction. Have you ever noticed how some people smell better to you than others? I am not talking about after shaves or perfumes or deoderants. I am speaking of pheromones. (A chemical secreted that influences the behavior or development of others of the same species, often functioning as an attractant of the opposite sex.)...

What is your ultimate love story? Maybe you've read it, imagined it, seen it, heard it, lived it?
My husband, Richard, and I. I first fell in love with my husband when I was 15. I used to stare at the back of his head in Biology class. There was just something about him...you know? Anyway, he never noticed I was there and I was too shy to say anything. As time passed, we ran into each other from time to time as we had some friends in common, but never really spoke to each other except to...

What do you think of people who ask friends to ask people they like out? [Because the person is REALLY REALLY shy and needs help and has finally accepted that]
Why accept that? If you are so shy that it impinges upon your ability to connect with people, why would you want to remain that way? Is the person who does the asking going to go along on the date...are they going to be there to save you from every awkward situation? If the answer is no then I have a better suggestion. Date in a group. Then you do not have to ask the person out directly, but...

Why did roy lichtenstein create 'kiss'?
Lichtenstein borrowed heavily from popular ads and comic book art - "as artificial as possible." to quote him. The why of that specific image? We can't ask him because he's no longer here, but he had a very satirical view of the world at that time. A lot of people did. It was the 60's after all. People were questioning everything and I think a lot of his work was a...

How should a female go about telling her mother (very Catholic!) she wants to move-in w/her BF, without straining her relationship w/her mother?
There is no way to tell your mother without straining the relationship. That being said, you do need to tell her. Not telling her and having her find out some other way would be much worse, not to mention it would falsify the terms of your realtionship with your boyfriend. All you can do is hope that eventually she will come around - she will never approve, but she may at some point accept the...
