If you have a friend who is depressed & anxious alot, and SAYS they want help, but when they have the chance to get it for free they refuse it, what would you do? I know people must accept it to be helped. But it is sad. Just curious what you think?
It would seem they are not yet ready to deal with their problems. Some get stuck in a real rut and need to hit bottom before they really will accept help. Alcoholics and people who are depressed often do this.
I would let them alone and hope they do not waste too many more months or years before they are willing to confront their problems with professional help. I would avoid the temptation...

I have some white pimple like bumps on my labia minora and on the inside of my labia majora. They have been there quite some time and few are even popable like pimples. What are they?
1. DO not pop them. You can spread infection or get them infected.
2. Whether you are sexually active or not, if you have had them that long, you need to be finding out what they are. See a doctor! Could be not much. Could be something abit worse.
We can't and won't look at you to diagnose your medical issue. Do yourself a huge favor and get a doctor to diagnose and treat them....

I find it a turn off frankly, and think with all the products (tweezers included) available to women today, it should not be that hard for a woman to be smooth and hair-less on the chest and facial area with the exception of light baby hair or "fuzz.'

You can't. When and if they realize how harmful it can be or has already been to their health, they will quit. Even people who have had heart attacks and lung surgery smoke again. Sometimes it is a manifestation of a death wish. To try to make them quit is a waste of words and energy.

It is a strain, just as too much reading or watching TV can be. Alot of it is due to the close and smaller screen, plus there is refection and just not the same as a TV with a good sized screen. Is going from level 1 to level 10 in four and a half days good on AB? It's been bothering me and I've somehow never thought to ask. I think it's average, because I tend to be average in everything. Oh, I usually spend about four to five hours a day on it.
If you are spending 4-5 hours a day here, you don't need to worry about how fast you gain ranks. Just make sensible questions and replies and your points will come as they are deserved.
It's NOT a race for most people. So enjoy it. Also, I assume you are also enjoying the opportunity to be of help to some people.

I suppose I would try to develop coping skills for it and do the best I could. I think it would be interesting to know what certain people I deal with are thinking, but I can also see why it could...

Is it considered self deffense to trap an intruder in a cage or blow up a 55 gallon barrel of gasoline under the driveway directly under their car if they are in your driveway and in the process of framing you for a crime?
No. You are entrapping them and setting up booby traps that someone else could get hurt with, and you would be in big trouble.
If you are in that situation, you need not to take things into your own hands. Either work with police and maybe a private investigator, or depending on what they are trying to frame you with, the FBI *might* get interested.

Is there anyway to speed the healing of a pulled muscle? It's down my side along my ribcage. Should I continue to workout and go easy in that spot or should I stop excersizing till it heals?
Ask your doctor for ultra sound treatments by a physical therapist. They are remarkable for healing badly pulled muscles or tendons.
If not that, I would NOT suggest exercising that muscle directly, but USE it only to the point of stretching and NOT pain, or you will prolong healing and can make the tears/pulled muscle fibers worse. Moist heat packs on it 3-4 x a day also are very therapeutic.

It's no different from the "red eye" you get from taking photos of humans straight on. Not using a flash, or using a camera setting (some have another light for the person to look at) that can on some cameras take all of that away!
Ask at your local camera shop and take your camera in and they will be happy to help you I am sure.

What is the purpose of "hand-tossing" pizza dough?
Personal preference, plus some people feel even if the dough is well kneaded and risen, tossing helps to further make for a better crust.
It's also a good showy way to sell pizzas in places where they have the people tossing them in windows and where you can see them. :)

Do you think you control your world or that your world controls you?
Neither one. I can and do control myself, and to the extent I do that, the rest of the world is affected *in some way* by me and who I am and how I am, just as I am by who they are and how they are. It might be very subtle (versus what you are asking) and seem not possible, but I believe it is true.

Nobody else has a favorite cell flip type phone before I go shopping?
Answer to:
Regarding your cell phone experiences: Do you prefer the clam shell-"flip" phones, or the straight/slide phone style? Why do you favor one over the other? Comfort? Size? Durability?
Thanks for the replies. I am thinking of buying a new one. I always liked the flip phone also, because they seem to line up with my ear and mouth better and I just hear and speak better with one than a straight phone. I don't see how those people with 4" long straight phones can hear well or be heard well, but that's their problem.

Yes they do, and if they do not they are not making a "full disclosure" and can be sued for damages if there is later damage, especially if you have them sign something saying that they are sure there is no such problem. Which is the best way to do things, BTW. Have it in writing, not verbally.

What is the largest age difference YOU would personally have between you and someone you dated seriously or were contemplating marrying? Are you male or female, and who is older, or does it matter?
Just to put my 2 cents in, it would be about 5 years younger for the woman (I am a male) and 5 years or so older than me.
I guess I am conservative about this, since I have know people where the age gap they said was the thing that broke things up. Maybe that was just a convenient excuse however.
Ok everyone got my points. Thanks for participating. At least I got in 1-2 questions people...

You don't "get him to try." You tell him you would LIKE to try, and I would assume or hope he would be willing.
Men can't read minds. And they don't like being forced into things. (no pun intended!). :)
Good luck.

Do as you wish but if he is your ex and you were just bf/gf as opposed to married, I think it is abit dangerous, unless you have stayed in contact with all of them including your bf, it could be some sort of way to get you back into the "mix."

If I thought I could get it out and me both, yes. If it was a big lake or river with current especially, with no help, I would drown with it. This is a mistake alot of people make trying to save other people. In seconds your muscles can become useless unless you have help or a rope to help get out. Then you and anyone else dies.

Yes. Societal pressure for them to lose it and "become a man." it's all crap, but some guys are very caught up in it and feel weird if they are still virgins at age 15-16 even.
It is too bad. It's like women should have breasts or their periods by a certain age. It is different with different people. Young adults need alot less pressure of this kind.

STEP 1: Write your lyric and put it in a tangible form - on paper, sheet music, computer disk or audiotape. You can't copyright an idea that is still in your head.
STEP 2: Recognize that anything written after April 1, 1989, is automatically protected (in the United States) by an assumed copyright. If you don't transfer the copyright to someone else, it will last 70 years past...

Zinc lozenges or Zicam nose swabs both work well but ONLY if you start it in the first 24 hours or so of getting the symptoms.
Zinc can be added later, but is not as effective. It can upset stomachs, so might eat first. Some people also are helped by Vitamin C.

Norton is a real pain to uninstall. Go to their web site and download their Norton uninstall tool (below) or you won't get it all. You never want to have more than one antivirus programs (or even leftovers) on your computer at the same time. It can really mess things up!

What word(s) do you unconsiously say? (ex: omg, jesus christ, goodness gracious, wowzas, etc.)
I don't ever say anything when I am unconscious.
While awake, I sometimes curse with crap, wow, sh*t, dam, geesh, and things like that. It's basically talking to myself. Sometimes the words are positive and happy, and often they are not so positive and are abit crude or dramatic.
Depends on the situation. I think everyone does it.

Would you call someone who's disabled in some way 'retarded' to their face?
Why would I do that? A disabled person frequently is not the same as a person who is "retarded." I am not sure the word retarded is even a valid term used these days unless someone is dense or very , very rude.
Calling anyone disabled or retarded to their face would be unconscionable to me. I find it hard to even see why you would think of such a question.

Can you name ten things you love about your life?
No. I'll be totally honest. I cannot name ONE thing I love about my life. I have a few things I enjoy doing off and on like Ab, but that's as far as I can go with that.
I DO have one sister and one close friend I could say I loved, but both are far away. So I did forget them. Other than that, that is my list of ten (2).
I could name GENERAL things like dogs, cats, babies, pies,...
Answer to:
What would you do if come to find out, the person you are closest to on AB, but dont know in person turned out to be someone they are not?
The question is worded very awkwardly. But if I found out someone here was in real life different from what they had told me, I would be not terribly surprised, and if I really liked them here, I would probably continue to like them.
If I understood your question, that is my response.

Men and women often are "ambivalent" about cutting off a relationship. So while they don't want it any longer, a small part of them still misses it. This could be the case here.

Is there a reason why milk makes me have to pee so much?
There should be no reason for this. If you drink ALOT of skim milk (mostly water) you will urinate more. Regular milk, unless drunk in large quantities like any other liquid (more than 6-8 glasses a day) should not cause excessive urination.
If you are having this and not drinking this amount, consult your physician.

NOBODY is going to slap me without reason, unless I am in a mental health ward! If I get slapped, I did something to deserve it. I walk away or I apologize. I am not going to escalate things by slapping them back. I had my fill of that in high school and later as a young and stupid adult.

How did/do native Americans shave their heads/faces?
First, some Native Americans did not have heavy beards. They had very sharp knives and water, so I am sure they manages their beards and their heads that way. If they knew how to scalp in seconds, they could shave in a few minutes and be more careful I am sure.
Before that, very sharp cutting tools like obsidian perhaps which can be sharpened like a blade.

I have respect for some reporters, and others I believe go for sensational and not often accurate reporting. Why do birds fly in a "V" shape?
Scientists who have studied formation flight believe that birds fly in this way for two reasons.

Creation of trailing vortices due to a difference in pressure above and below a...

Everyone is different in what they find amusing or even entertaining. Some people love TV, and others don't even own one. Some love sports, and others snooze just at the thought.
Some people like sitcoms and others hate them. It's just personal taste. And it keeps people from being totally bored as we would be if we all liked and were entertained by the same things!

After sex do you linger (cuddle, snuggle) or just get up?
If I can remember that long ago, I used to usually linger, unless I HAD to get up. I like to "spoon." I'm not a hit and run guy. I like to linger, and maybe go for a few more runs. :) I also like "pillow talk," soft massages and playing with my partner's hair afterwards or in-between...whatever. I am a romantic.

Where do you think Language originated?
The origin of language is a topic that has been written about for centuries, but the ephemeral nature of speech means that there is almost no data on which to base conclusions on the subject. We know that, at least once during human evolution, a system of verbal communication emerged from proto-linguistic or non-linguistic means of communication, but beyond that little can be said.

My girlfriend just broke up with me and said there is a small chance of us getting back together. Should I still try to get her back?
That's an old trick (maybe). She's obviously pissed off or unhappy with you, and maybe wants you to feel bad for awhile, or perhaps come crawling back to her. You need to decide how badly you want to be with her. Also, if you did something that caused her to break up with you, can you apologize for that and not do it again??
If not, you might want to look for a new girlfriend.

Not if it is not a huge amount of charcoal. Actually it is good for gas, digestion, and it helps with poisons and impurities in your system. Not real tasty.
Also, if you east TOO much (unlikely from food) you can have black or dark colored stools for a day or so. Nothing to worry about.

They could be symptoms of many things. If it has gone on for long, if you have a fever, or are losing much weight, you need to see a doctor.
There are some fairly nasty diseases and illnesses that also have these same symptoms, and it doesn't pay to guess if you what you have is due to being in love when you could be truly sick and need medical attention.

There is a difference between 30 feet and a good diver diving in the water correctly, and someone in clothing jumping from a 50-100+ foot height into water of unknown depth and temperature.
The person also has NO idea what is below the water...a rock, a log, or other things that could break their back or leg quickly and then they could drown quickly. Not recommended ever!

So have this close friend and i love her. but sometimes she like annoys me. what should i do?
I think it is good for you to know that everyone, including people you like alot or love, is going to have something or things they do that you do not like or that annoy you.
If you want to have friends and lovers, you need to be able to get past this and talk it over with them in a nice way, or simply get used to it and realize that there are probably things you do that annoy them as well....

I have a type of blood blister thing on the palm of my hand that has been there for months. I've tried treating it like a wart, but it doesn't go away. What is it? How should I treat it?
Go to a doctor - dermatologist might be best. ANYTHING medical you have that hangs around for months (or even 2-3 weeks) and doesn't heal or get better is a warning sign and needs a doctor's attention, or you could be playing with something very serious.
Go to a doctor if you want an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

I don't think it would be true with everything, but many things of course yes. Water, as simple as it is, killed a young person recently who was doing a challenge for a radio station.
Too much love, NO. Too much laughter, NO. Too much sex? If healthy, NO.

Answer to:
Can you drink too much water?
Yes, and it just happened and was in the news
"Hyperhydration" causes "hyponatremia," where the body' sodium is flushed out (if they are allowed to pee) or diluted in the body (essential to the heart rhythm staying correct, as well as other things) and the potassium goes very high. This messes up the heart function, and often causes a fatal heart attack.

MacGyver. He is intelligent in many ways, has a sense of humor (Robin would never shut up and would drive me nuts I think) and can figure out all kinds of solutions to all kinds of problems. All I need to make sure i have is chewing gum, a match and maybe a paper clip. :)

When is it ethical to take the life of another human?
Self defense (which would include wartime) are the ONLY times I can see it being anywhere close to "ethical" (I would use the word justified instead of ethical) to take the life of another human being.
ADDENDUM: Also in cases of protecting others e.g a policeman or someone who protects others from being killed.

Why are most women submissive to men
I am not sure that is the case in the US these days, at least with many women I see and know. I think this used to be the case, but from the women I know and have known, and what I see on TV and read in the papers, I would say that "some" women are (still) submissive to men." But certainly not all, and I would doubt that the majority are now.

OK, Traveller's Checks 101:
There are times when it makes sense to carry traveler's checks (or "cheques," to use the spelling favored by Britain and American Express). For example:

The problem is it has gotten moisture in it. You can do 2-3 things I have done that help, but you have to be careful not to over re-heat it.
1. Reheat in an oven on a large cookie sheet so it is all even @ 250-300 for about 3-4 minutes. That usually gets the moisture out.

In school if you take gym 4-5 times a week, that should be enough if it is good exercise for 30 minutes. If not, do some other exercise 5 days a week for 30 minutes at least. That is a good-adequate amount to keep you "fit," unless you are eating much too much junk foods and other food and are overweight.

I would assume everyone had to sign a waiver in case anyone died or got sick. Water intoxication leading to death is well known in fraternity and sorority hazings and initiations. They never should have done it. It is just as bad as drinking as much alcohol as one can for a contest. It's a sure way to get someone hurt or even killed.

The police know how to get him the help he needs and also to help you in the meantime. They also know that unless there is a situation where is is better for your father and you both for awhile, that it is better for you and him to be together.

When you were growing up (or if you still live at home) have either of your parents ever hit you, aside from a spanking on the bottom. I mean really HIT you, or slapped you very hard in the face?
Yes, I got slapped a few times when I was older. Once I was big and strong enough nobody tried to hit me. They knew they would get hit back.

How is it that John Madden was able to become such a staple in broadcasting if very few like to hear him talk?
A good agent probably, and he also is very controversial, which makes people watch. People like to see him get angry, say things that are inappropriate or stupid or funny, etc. It makes for "sensational" broadcasting. Like the tabloids, only it is on TV or radio. Just like people disliked Howard Cosell (many did anyhow) especially when he got older. But they still watched him and...

Why do actors get embarassed when they see a clip of a show/movie that made them famous - e.g. Tom Hanks seems mortified when they show him on "Bosom Buddies" in drag as "Buffy" - yes, I understand he was dressed as a women but it was a good show. B proud
They may appear embarrassed, but alot of it is stuff they are SO glad they did because it got them noticed and helped them become mega-rich and famous today! Some of them even supply the old tapes to the talk shows!

Answer to:
Is there really a difference between you kissing someone and them kissing you if you are already taken?
Yes.
If you ALLOW them to kiss you or hang on, that is something you control. You can pull away.
If you initiate the kiss, that is worse since you are in total control of the whole thing.
So what is your question? Is one worse than the other? I would say if you initiate the kiss it is worse, but if you continue to allow yourself to be kissed, it is probably not much better.

I feel so far away , How can I get through my anger? I'm tired of hurting my mother and the people I love.
Alot of getting through anger is allowing yourself to let go of it. If you cannot do this, talking to someone who can help you work through it is often helpful.
Anger will only fester and continue to hurt you and others until you let it go or work it through, and usually that means doing both things.

Start by liking yourself and telling yourself you are OK as you are. Do things for you that you like. Accept yourself for the positives, (see them!) -- the things you do well and excel in, and the things YOU think are not so positive. Know that you are just as "good" as the next person, because you are.
