Who Is By Far The Most Minipulative Person You Have Ever Come In Contact With In Your Life?*
My middle son. Whenever he couldn't get his own way he'd play the guilt trip card until it got to the stage that my other two sons were being neglected while I spent all my time sorting out his problems; I severed contact with him two years ago and the family has never been happier ( the sons are now 42 / 40 / 38)
Answer to:
If your natural hair colour becomes fainter at the age of around 20, does this mean your hair will be completely grey before you are 25?
Does it really start to fade at 20? I'm sure mine didn't. Natural hair colour becoming 'fainter' is probably due to sun bleaching.
Answer to:

This is from someone who is supposed to love you? Dump him, hard and fast. Nobody has to put up with put-downs like that. Trust me I know what I'm talking about, I'm in my 60's and my father used to do that to me, and if I reacted he just sniggered about me not being able to take a joke. It was no joke, he did it to make himself feel superior and that's exactly what...

Are to many women trying to hard to look sexy and loosing appeal because of it?
I think it all depends on your definition of sexy. Generally though, women in a social situation follow what they see in magazines and on TV as being 'sexy'. Well unless you happen to have a fabulous figure and face you're not going to pull it off. Chunky legs in mini skirts, flabby arms in halter necks, floppy braless boobs.....sorry, not sexy!

If you had neighbours that for 10 yrs, had woken you at all hours, screaming and foully abusing each other, stealing, and generally being revolting what would you do?
Call the police every time. Your persistant complaint has to be logged, even if they are too busy to attend. Eventually it will all come to a head and your dozens of complaints will back up your case. When I have to call the police in the wee small hours because of our selfish neighbour across the street, I generally hold the phone out the front door so they can hear for themselves what is...

I doubt that if she was under 15 and if the photos were genuine (which all the comments above point out that they're not)it wouldn't be her "having" nude pictures taken, rather her being coerced into having them taken....under 15 is just a child.

Answer to:
A good friend of mine is having a B-day party and has asked that people bring a dish to share. Some people are taking offense at this and refusing to bring anything. I think this is incredibly rude, thoughts?
I think it depends - if your friend has stipulated no gifts, but bring a plate, it's perfectly acceptable and a great way to cut the expense. However it's a bit cheeky to expect guests to bring a gift and contribute food as well! If the people who are offended don't intend to take a dish, then they shouldn't go.

If you didn't know him anyway, just ignore it. If you did know him, call out after him "'Bye Fred (or whatever)". Don't bleed about it - if you didn't know each other beforehand there wasn't much point in him shaking hands and making friends just as he was leaving!

I'm guessing that you feel obliged to him because he helped you financially - when actually he was buying himself a punching bag. Don't feel sorry for him, you need to be in survival mode. If hitting you is his reaction to frustration, then he really is a selfish, juvenile jerk, and you need to end this relationship before you get badly hurt. You've already survived a divorce,...

There's probably a hundred reasons why someone would embark on an affair, and nobody but the people involved would know; I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but I certainly wouldn't look down on someone for doing it - they are the ones taking the risk of turning their life upside down, not me. They've all been a pretty dismal effort, haven't they. I daresay the current Iraq war will be resolved eventually because it is localised in relation to the rest of the world. Drugs and Poverty are global problems and I doubt all the countries are capable of working together effectively to overcome them.

Oh, and suitable quantities of alcohol and 60's themed decorations. I honestly never thought I'd live this long, let alone in pretty good health, so I recon I've got plenty to celebrate!!

What do you do when somebody you've loved and who has loved you for two years suddenly decides that they don't love you anymore?
Well it is probably not a sudden decision on their part. Unfortunately they have most likely been having second thoughts about your relationship for some time, but only now been motivated to act on it. You can't make someone love you, so if you want to keep them in your life you'll have to do your best to be likeable at least. If that is too painful, make a clean break, lick your...

Past lovers have nothing to do with your relationship, so keep them in the past. It's the old double-standard....if he'd had 9 previous lovers he'd be considered a stud, however he WILL look at you in a different light if you admit to nine previous relationships! Keep it to yourself.

Funny, relaxed people. People who don't mind silence. People who are not rigid and judgemental. People who don't care that my house is always a mess and my garden is dying in the drought and that I am overweight and my car is old.

Maybe the accent here is on the word 'need'. Controlling people have plenty of other ways to exercise their power - like isolating their 'love' by arranging their lives so that the control freak knows where they...

Definitely - the separation of Church and State etc. Laws are put in place by the State, not the Church; You are in no way compromising your christian beliefs by peacefully protesting against injustice. HOWEVER...rioting, looting, vandalism, assault and a lot of the other antisocial behaviour we see during a protest is most definitely contrary to christian teachings.

Answer to:
Will a man who cheats and lies to everyone ... ever be happy?
At the moment he is happy because manipulating everyone is just a game to him and he obviously thinks he is the centre of the universe and has the right to do this. However, some time down the track, karma will bite him on the ass and he will have nobody left to turn to. He is a disaster waiting to happen and if he's in your life you should bale out now before he drags you down with him.

I cheated on my boyfriend of 3 years and lost him. I know what I did was wrong and totally out of character for me. I can't get over the break-up because I just can't forgive myself and it's been 2 months. Any advice?
You can't feel guilty about it forever. You've already paid a huge price for your stupidity, so no point in keeping on beating yourself up over it. Accept that that part of your life is over and find other challenges.

What would you do or think if you got remarried then found out your new spouse hates or despises your "very-very hard to love" child?
Oh boy, that wouldn't be easy! Assuming that the child has always been with you, surely you'd have a suspicion that your new partner didn't like them before you married. You'll have to try and keep as much space as possible between them, and like it or not you're going to end up as a full-time mediator.

If something is eventually going to be outlawed, what should it be? Alcohol or Cigarettes
It will be cigarettes, but it should be alcohol. Smokers are basically only harming themselves (passive smoking issues aside), but drinkers have an effect on everyone around them. There has been 10 times more damage done to society by alcohol than by tobacco. For what its worth, I'm a non-smoker and an occasional social drinker.

Not so much now, but in my younger years I attempted lots of different interests. Some I was never much good at and so abandoned them (yoga, guitar lessons, tai chi, gardening) and some I became quite proficient at but got bored (leadlighting, knitting, cross-stitch, painting).
Now I spend far too much time mucking around on the computer, mucking around with my horses, and caring for my...

What are your thoughts on Howard K. Stern? [I know you guys are tired of the A.N.S. Questions]
I recon the guy is very suss. Personally I doubt he is the father of the baby girl, I think it all about getting his hands on the money. I feel he is a bit of a Svengali character, who managed to control ANS and her son by supplying them drugs. I hope I'm wrong.

I confess I don't know much about American history, but it seems to me that they would probably be travelling on foot or by horse and wagon. How would you deal with this situation: my friends funeral was on wednesday, my father is extremely ill and diagnosed with cancer on thursday, and my fiancee left me on friday. and im mostly hurt about the fiancee. why?
Because there is nothing you can do for your friend now. You can't do much for your Dad, it is only medical intervention that can save him now. Your pet has no concept of death, only of the conditions under which it is living. It is always a heart-wrenching decision, but it is better to put an ailing animal out of it's misery than to allow it to suffer unnecessarily. Why is it that i belive in God and then part of me is not sure?why cant i just choose which one to believe
Why do you feel you have to choose? If you know in your heart you are a good person and you do the right thing in your daily interaction with others then you are a Christian. That is the basis of Christianity. I do not believe you have to slavishly follow a church - there's too many suss ones out there - to be a Christian person. I too am undecided about the existence of a God, but I...
Answer to:
Do you ever feel like your constantly fighting to survive? I mean like constantly!
I'm much too lazy for that! I can only change my own behaviour and perceptions, not that of others. If survival means having a roof over your head and food on the table then I'm doing OK. If it means forging ahead in career or acquiring more posessions then I'm sadly lacking!

Would you rather be "right" (as in a disagreement or argument), or happy (as in give it up, it's not worth you & others being unhappy about it)? Do you like or need to be the winner and have a loser, or do you like a win-win situation?
Win-win is always the best result, although I have no problem with backing down when faced with an aggressive adversary.

My long distance boyfriend broke up with me a month ago. He continues to call me and wanting to talk. Sometimes I answer, but I let him know it's pointless to talk if he doesn't want to commit. What should I do? I loved him and he was my "first."
If it is painful for you to talk to him, refuse to answer his calls. Go into self-preservation mode, you're not there for his convenience. He hurt you and it is not helpful for him to keep reminding you of what you lost.

Religious beliefs are just that...beliefs. You are a christian in your heart, not in your head. If you know you are a good person and are happy in your christianity, then you conduct your personal life as you see fit for that will be the correct way for you.

If it had a collar with some sort of ID I would return it immediately (I'm not a dog lover). If it had no ID I would look after it and advertise around the town, and leave it tied up at the front of our house through the day in case someone was looking for it. Because, much as we hate to admit it, people in the 60's and 70's were basically conservative. Yoko was sooooo far out there that she wasn't trusted, and her relationship with Lennon was seen to turn him away from the persona The Beatles had invented. I detested her!

It's got nothing to do with not loving them enough - after all most men wouldn't change their surnames to yours either - but some women feel they are losing their identity by giving up their name, and that's their perogative.

An honest question: Why does it seem that atheists bash Christianity heavily compared to other religions? Is this just me?
Because they can get away with it. Religions other than our own are protected by law; If you rant against moslems you're likely to start a riot! Probably because they're athiests they are not really interested in religion so haven't investigated the intricacies of Islam or Buddhists or Hare Krishnas for example. Christianity is taught in most schools so an atheist has a basic...

As a traffic enforcer in an intersection then suddenly an ambulance in rush is coming near on north, the presidential convoy is on south, a police mobile chasing a criminal is on the west & firetruck on the east, which of them you will make way 1st? & why
The ambulance is already involved in a life & death situation.
The fire truck may be, but they won't know that till they get there.
The police car can radio ahead for help.
The president wouldn't be doing anything important anyway!

Why can't I seem to let go of the past and get over it? I seem to always dweal on past things that have happened to me and I don't know why I can't stop thinking about them and getting upset about them.
Because your past has made you who you are today; You can't forget it, but you can get over obsessing about it and move forward. Life is not a rehearsal... it is the time in front of you that counts now, not the time you've already spent.

Has someone ever said something that changed your life?
Well yes, generally some sort of put-down which drove me further into my shell. My father was particularly good at this, and spent 40+ years convincing me I was dumb and ugly. I was not popular at high school, (but I did have a couple of close friends), and I can remember one guy on the school bus (he was Mr Popular) sneering at me when I offered a bag of hot chips around. Hypothetically, if you COULD choose your own death what would it be (Anything you wanted take your pick)? Why?
I've often thought that the best way would be to stockpile sleeping tablets when I get old, and when I've had enough of living just choose when and where to slip away. I don't want to end up in a nursing home, so better to do it myself while I am still able to make that decision. I figure I would tell my family, and they can choose whether to be there or not.

You have very little control over who you fall in love with - it is like the decision about that is made elsewhere - if it were not so then so many people wouldn't end up in so many disasterous affairs. Ooooh yeah! Years ago when I was growing up there was no TV; We didn't know what everybody else outside our neighbourhood was doing, so we were happy doing our own thing. Now kids are exposed to so much advertising, programming etc that they know exactly what is going on elsewhere and they question why their life isn't like that. My granddaughter is almost 4, can hold an...

Depends on your relationship with your boyfriend; If you haven't been seeing each other for very long it is probably worth persevering; If you've been together for -say- 6 months and his mother still dislikes you, then avoid her. Sooner or later he will make a choice one way or the other and the problem will be fixed.
I had a similar experience but from the other side of the...

I am fourteen and have never had a girlfriend in my life. Is this okay?
Why would you want one? They are generally a lot of trouble. Hang out with your friends and enjoy your life....and hopefully one of those friends will eventually become extra special to you. You can't make these things happen - special people come along when you least expect it. Enjoy your life, it is not a rehearsal, don't set yourself up for any more heartbreak than you can...

Is it wrong to put a dog to sleep on your own? My uncle lives on a farm and though he really loves his dog - when they are sickly and old he shoots and buries them on his own. I personally don't agree with this and think he should have a vet do it.
Your uncle is right. As a farmer he is obviously familiar with guns and hopefully capable of doing the job correctly with one shot.

If you have to give birth outside of a hospital, what do you need the towels and the hot water for? (They will always ask for towels and hot water in such situations in the movies.)
The towels are for cleaning up the mess and wrapping the baby. The hot water is so everyone else can have a cuppa while they're waiting for the mother to do her thing!

AT WHAT POINT IN LIFE, DOES AN INDIVIDUAL'S MORTALITY BECOME APPARENT?
When other members of their age group die. Elderly folk pass away throughout our lives but we seem to be able to accept that as the nature of things. Answer to:
Do you get angry easily or can you control your anger?
By nature I am quite placid, and it takes a lot to wind me up. When I was younger I would internalize everything...kind of like a volcano, resenting whatever was happening and seething inside until eventually (usually my kids) would push it a smidgeon too far and I would explode. Lots of noise, a huge overreaction and very ugly. I have been on an antidepressant for about 10 years now and...

I don't know if I believe in spirits as such, but I do believe there is more wierd shit going on in the world than we can rationally explain. I have a mental 'weird shit box' to which I consign happenings which I cannot adequately explain but accept for what they are.

I bought green linen pants from zara. What will be a good matching top? What color can go with green pants?
Depends on what shade of green. You're always safe with a white top. Pastel green would need a pastel top. Lime green - navy or black. Olive green - beige, black or red. Dark green - pretty much anything in an autumn tone.

My 4-year-old granddaughter stays with us several nights a week, and her bed-wetting is getting much better. Despite her pleas I restrict her liquid intake after 6pm, and this has helped enormously. We leave the toilet light on so that if she does happen to stir in the night it makes it easy for her to find her way there. She is managing to stay dry most of the time now, maybe has an accident...

My boyfriend's mom got drunk one time and told my boyfriend basically that she did not like me and that I was a bad person. She has always acted nice to me. Do people usually say what they really think when they are drunk wether they know it or not.
Yes, unfortunately people do often say what's on their mind when they're drunk.... stuff that they keep to themselves when sober. Was it the ancient greeks or romans who said 'In Vino Veritas'(or something like that) which apparently means 'In wine there is truth'? It's OK though if they're telling you something nice!!

Where does self esteem come from?
I believe that self esteem is nurtured in children from their earliest years, with positive praise and encouragement from primarily their parents and extended family. They need to be told that they are loved and valued, and they will grow to see themselves that way. No amount of 'self esteem courses' in adulthood will erase the basic belief that you are ugly or dumb or worthless if...

How does one deal with an overly critical parent who never praises accomplishments and focuses only on failures?
You can't deal with them. They think they own you and it's their right to criticize you. Often they have no accomplishments of their own so take great delight in putting you back in your box to keep you on their level. I coped with my sarcastic and critical father by not telling him anything - mind you, it took a lot of years for me to finally come up with this strategy.

I've seen blindfolds (not blinders) on some horses, they're wrapped completely around the head, covering the eyes. Why would you blindfold a horse?
You would blindfold a horse to calm it in an extremely stressful situation. Mesh flyveils, as mentioned above, often look like a blindfold, but the horse can see through them. I ride my Arab in 'bug eyes' because he shies (and I fall off!). That is a lycra mask which just pulls on over his head, and it has a roomy mesh shield over each eye. This keeps the flies off his face, but...
