I think this is incredibly rude, thoughts? I think it depends - if your friend has stipulated no gifts, but bring a plate, it's perfectly acceptable and a great way to cut the expense. However it's a bit cheeky to expect guests to bring a gift and contribute food as well! If the people who are offended don't intend to take a dish, then they shouldn't go.

Which war is most likely to be succesful, the War on Poverty (from the 1960s), the War on Drugs, or the current Iraq War? They've all been a pretty dismal effort, haven't they. I daresay the current Iraq war will be resolved eventually because it is localised in relation to the rest of the world. Drugs and Poverty are global problems and I doubt all the countries are capable of working together effectively to overcome them.

A 69 year old man lived with my Grandma for many years. He was intilectually impared and just yesterday he passed away from a cardiac arrest in hospital. Do you think that people consider you more of a "winner" or a "loser"? I'm inclined to think people would think I'm a 'winner'....when actually they would be surprised at how little formal education I have, how little money we survive on, and how my personal life has been difficult over the years.

If it's someone you don't know all that well, you become suspicious of their motives - why are they being so nice to me? What do they really want? My fiance and I are planning on getting married at our local community hall. It will be a small wedding as cheap as possible, do we pay a justice of the peace or a preacher to come and marry us?
