The Beginning of the End

  • Step 1:
Relationships go bad when one person or both people in the relationship no longer feels happy with the situation. It's different from the relationship merely changing, because every relationship is bound to evolve and change as time goes by and this is not always a bad thing. When people start to feel like they are no longer happy within the relationship, this is the beginning of the relationship going bad. There are a wide variety of reasons why a person might feel unsatisfied within a relationship, but whether this becomes the beginning of the end for a relationship depends largely on how the couple reacts to the problem.

The Downward Spiral

  • Step 1:
A relationship that has gone bad has reached a point where there either needs to be major changes or a break up is inevitable, otherwise the relationship is destined to be unfulfilling to one or both of the people in the couple. Oftentimes the cause of a relationship going bad is the lack of action on the part of the couple. In other words, obvious issues and problems are ignored and aren't addressed. When issues aren't addressed, the relationship starts to go bad.

A Broken Partnership

  • Step 1:
Things can go bad when one partner in the relationship is unhappy or changed, yet the other partner is completely oblivious to the issue. One person's unhappiness going unnoticed is a surefire way for a relationship to go bad. After all, it's difficult to feel comfortable in a relationship when a person feels as though the other person couldn't care less.

Many Roads to Bad

  • Step 1:
Other problems that can easily lead to a relationship going bad include infidelity, addiction issues, money problems, and anything else that might add strain to a relationship. While some couples manage to stay together during rough times, it is the added stress that causes many couples to throw in the towel and allow the relationship to go bad.
