How do I get my PS3 to recognize my controller after I reformat it?

I recently turned on my PS3 and it wasn't able to play movies. So I reformatted the hard drive. Now it is asking me to connect the controller and hit the PS3 button. I do this and nothing happens. So I thought the USB cable was bad - so I got a new. Nothing. Any advice?

Interesting. By all rights, it should have been able to connect your controller. The USB cable was plugged into the system, and the controller hooked up, I can't see any reason as to why it wouldn't pick up the controller's signal and recognize it. I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't.

I'm afraid that all I can tell you is that what's happening isn't normal, and you should probably look for help from Sony. Start by going to this website:

    http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3

Look for Contact Customer Support (or anything with a similar name) and send them an email explaining what your problem is. They should be able to help.
