Question

Help answer this question below.

A friend of mine told me that the vein that "sticks" out of my bicep going down both my arms is unhealthy. Is this normal, and could this be that I'm performing an exercise incorrectly?

So far, I agree with all the submitted answers. Body type, including the prominence of blood veins, can be attributed to genetics. Larger blood vessels are an indication of a greater need for blood supply (oxygen and nutrients) to the body. An more prominent blood veins are ONE of the noticeable effects of adequate exercise. Your blood veins are perfectly normal, and so is your friend (who apparently has less prominent veins). Another factor not considered is water and bodyfat composition. Bodybuilders who drastically reduce bodyfat and water composition have extremely prolific veins (like during their competion days), but when the are in the off season (and allow a higher bodyfat and water composition), the veins are less prominent.
