I am registered and usually vote as a Republican.  The general principles on which the Republican party is based are much more in line with my beliefs than those on which the Democratic party is based; though I often doubt whether there is really much difference in practice between the two parties.

In many respects, I find the Libertarian party to be more in line with my views, but the Libertarian party also takes some views that are very much out of line with my beliefs.  I'd be happy to see the Libertarian party in power at the federal level; those area where I find myself in disagreement with the Libertarians are areas in which I think the Libertarians (who share my strict interpetation of the Tenth Amendment) would agree with me that the federal government has no legitimate business being involved anyway.

In practice, however, I usually see it as a waste to vote for anything other than a Republican.  Third-party candidates very rarely win, and so voting for one only deprives a Republican candidate of a vote than might enable him to defeat the Democratic candidate.

    • The only difference between the parties* PRACTICES is that the Republicans tend to hold themselves to a somewhat higher moral standard than the Demoncats -- er, Democrats.

    • Rottweiler - Do you mean by having cyber sex with teenage boys, accepting bribes by Abramoff, or by their condemnation of homosexuals? Which of these demonstrates moral behavior?

    • (To AR) Why do you think they pressured Foley into resigning? And I*ll bet (at least) three times as many scandals can be found at the Democrats* doorstep, too.

    • I'd have to see you prove that, seeing as how they all seem to have their closets full of skeletons. You didn't answer the question as to which of those demonstrated the moral behavior you speak of.

    • (AR) I speak for MOST Republicans. You get bad eggs in every truckload. Of course, not EVERYONE is going to be the picture of morality. But apparently, you Leftists think that only Democrats can act out of line (which happens regularly).
