No, that is not necessarily true. First, the blood you may have heard about is from the hymen breaking. The hymen is a small membrane which partially blocks the vagina (inside), but it can easily break from use of tampons, riding a bicycle or any other vigorous activity. If there is blood, it would be very slight, probably not even noticeable. Second, if there is pain, you may want to go slow, and get plenty of feedback from your partner. You don't want her first time to be traumatic, it should be pleasant for both of you. Ask her how she is feeling. Let her tell you. Of course, if she is very very petite, and you are not, there may be pain for sure, but people usually pick someone to pair off with based on a natural compatibility. That's why you won't often see a 6'5" man with a 4'9" woman. You'll probably pick someone who is proportionately suitable for you. Just go slow, communicate and all should go well. Just be sure to practice safe sex. Don't trash this wonderful gift you have by being irresponsible.

    • The hymen is NOT inside...it is EXTERNAL. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hymen
