Yes, if you look at Genesis as a metaphor rather than as an actual timeline. If you look at evolutionary history things happen in multi-million year timespans, so what is commonly called Old Earth Creationism is reasonably in line with Evolutionary Theory: "God did it, he just used Evolution to accomplish all Life, and a 'day' to God is several million years to us." Old Earth Creationists have even come up with an explanation (not a very good explanation, but at least they tried) for how the Flood fits into the fossil record. Creationism is still wrong, but at least there can be Old Earth Creationist biologists without them constantly thinking that they are letting the side down.

Young Earth Creationism is completely incompatible with Evolutionary Theory, as their 6,000 year old Earth isn't long enough to accomplish everything using evolution. It is interesting to watch them squirm about the fossil record, such as trying to claim that billions of years ago things decayed millions of times faster than they do now.

    • Great answer and I mostly agree.
Young earth creationism is indeed very silly and illogical and very incompatible with evolution.

    • I respect that you are entitled to your beliefs, eternal0void, so please don't think that I'm trying to be offensive or start an arguement by saying this, but I would just like to point out the fact that there is a good amount of, I would say, strong evidence for Young Earth Creationism, and the way that scientests date fossils can a lot of times be faulty and inaccurate, not always, but still, they can be.

    • www.answersingenesis.org there is lots of proof of a young earth. Number one look to the spiral gallaxies. The arms of those gallaxies are spaced apart by nothing, the center on the galaxy is spinning faster than the outer galaxy mean the arms of the galaxy will collasp in only a few rotations which only take a few thousand years prooving a young earth. Even the by disprooves its own text, you just have to look in deeper, the hebrew word yom used in the first few chapters of Genesis for day meaning one 24 hour day. I do agree that young earth creationism is not compatible with evolution, but it doesn't have to to be truel.
