Wow, first of all I think cheating is the last thing you should resort to and won't help at all.

She needs to tell her husband that she is feeling lonely and that cheating will only cause more problems.

She really needs to stand up to her husband and tell her how she feels about the marriage and how she wants to improve it.

If her husband disagrees and still gives little interest in the matter she needs to tell him that she can't be with him if he won't put any effort into the marriage.

But she can't only blame him for the problems in her marriage. This is partially her fault for not standing up to her problems.

If she doesn't do anything now, then she will always feel that loneliness. If she wants a better marriage she has to work to make it better. And if she isn't dealing with her problems then clearly she doesn't really care about the marriage and is willing to cheat on her husband which I see as downright wrong.

But if your friend does try and talk to her husband and still doesn't work out she should go see a marriage councilor or tell her husband that the marriage might be over if he doesn't do anyhting.
