I know more about the Bible and Christianity then... Well, nobody I've met in person. The context and allegorical meanings that is.
It's a neat piece of allegorical literature that gives us a snippet of what mystery cults were like back around 100BCE-200CE. It's not the word of any god however. It is certainly written by men, and there are plenty of books and gospels that should have been included in the Bible but aren't as the proto-catholic church was trying to convince people Jesus was a real historical figure to prove their "legitimacy" over the other groups, which none of the other christian groups went with, because he's mythical and they all knew that. Then there's a lot of fighting and back and forth with letters and then they just start killing them off or pushing them out to other lands.
As for the Old Testament. None of it happened. If it did, people would be able to prove it instead of still be digging around in the desert looking for a HUGE KINGDOM that supposedly existed yet left no trace.
