Help answer this question below.
No one is a certain animal. Laymans versions of Chinese astrology link a person to an animal. This is done using the year that a person was born. That would mean that everyone all over the world born in the same year is essentially the same type of person. Surely that doesn't make any sense.
Instead, professional versions of Chinese astrology such as The 4 Pillars System associate people using two main characteristics being:
a. one of the 5 elements in either its yin or yang form. This elemental state thus defines a set of characteristics used to describe one's soul, or one's core motivations.
b. one of the elements in either its yin or yang form as found within one of the animals of the Chinese zodiac in relation to the elemental state used to define one's soul. This represents the core trait used to define one's body.
The characteristics used to describe one's soul also represent the type of lessons that one will focus on learning throughout their life, and the characteristics used to describe their body will also represent the purpose of their life, or the type of situations that they put themselves in, in order to learn said lessons.
And this just the beginning of how The 4 Pillars System attempts to describe each of our lives individually.
They say that all of the information used to describe a person's life is derived from the hour, day, month and year of their birth according to the chinese solar calendar.
I found out all of this from a site called http://www.ming-man.com
They have a lot of information on Chinese Astrology, I Ching and all kinds of other Chinese Philosophical systems. They also have really cool tools and I hear they are setting up a cool forum system.
