• I have a live album of theirs, silver and shaped round like a coin. I think it was recorded at Shea Stadium.

• I remember that one = it was easy to steal outta a record store like that one Traffic LP with cut corners (?!). The one I still have (LP) is the red cover fold-out with B&W close-up band photo inside. Farner's got no shirt on.

• My older brother had a few of their 8-tracks. Long lost now. I should look up a greatest hits CD. Did you listen to Rare Earth? I met their singer/drummer in September.

• "Rare Earth" = One of my early (American) favourites too, with the drummer/lead vocalist with powerful, 'ballsy' voice!
  They did a coupla' great MoTown tune covers, especially that one of The Temptations's "I'm Losin' You." = a classic piece of 'white boy blues'! Add to that "Get Ready" & others = too cool!
  How'd you meet him?
  [Did he take you backstage and make you do something(s) you didn't want to?!]

• His two sons play minor league baseball. He was coaching 1st base for the last game of the season. He sang God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch. He signed autographs after the game was over. He told me he still tours.

• Wow - that's really cool, guy! Sounds like he's got a lotta 'class' to do that. Lemme ask = in the day, didn't this band seem, I dunno, more 'intelligent' than lots of 'em? This dude especially. I can dig that!

  [Where I live, there's lotsa 'celebrities', etc., and from what I've seen, I can understand how most of 'em can seem like dickheads. But there's some real A-holes out there stalking 'em (or worse) alla time!]

  BTW: Somewhere above, '8-track' tapes are mentioned = I hadda case fulla twenty I gave to a pal a few years ago. What a crappy medium!

• I've met many pro athletes over the years and they can be not too friendly. I understand they are stalked for autographs most of the time. Retired athletes are either happy people recognize them or bitter.
  All the musicians I've met have been very friendly. Seems they don't really get to meet fans as easily as athletes do.
  I've only met a few actors, mostly from the original Star Trek TV show. I've heard some in New York are afraid of fans.

• Yeah, for good reason(s). Look at John Hinkley, fer instance.

  I suppose for most folks who make their living in the puplic eye, a certain amount of 'paparrazi'(sp?) attention is beneficial, or even *required* to stay famous. Likely, maintaining some balance (if possible) would be the challenge in that (keeping them away from your family, etc.). And subdued (invisible) security. I dunno 'bout you, but that seems too great a price to pay. And fame is one o' those things that are hard (or impossible) to reverse if you change your mind!
