A lot of "capital" history could be found at:
    http://www.texasalmanac.com/history/highlights/capitals/

Essentially, The Republic of Texas, not governed by any foreign nations has had 10 capitals (you may want to read the site to come to your own answers):

    1. San Felipe de Austin
    2. Washington-on-the-Brazos
    3. Harrisburg (temporarily off-shore)
    4. Galveston (when back on-shore)
    5. Velasco
    6. Columbia (first capital of an elected government of Rep. of Tex.)
    7. Houston
    8. "site of the town of Waterloo, on the north bank of the Colorado" renamed Austin
    9. Houston
    10. Austin.

    • half of these answers seem like they can't be backed up or a misunderstanding of what really happened.
