The so-called women's liberation movement has given women the same opportunities as men in the schools and work force, which, in turn, has given women better opportunities to obtain more money, and, thus, be more financially independent than their past counterparts, who, basically, were house drudges earning no pay, and, thus, did not make monetary contributions for themselves and, if applicable, their family.
