If your wisdom teeth aren't causing any dental problems, then the simple answer is no. It used to be done no matter what. Most of the time now though, if there's room in your mouth for them to grow (normally) in, dentists will leave them alone. If they're growing in crooked, on the side of your gums, through the roof of your mouth, etc. then extraction would be advisable, if not necessary. Most places will also advise you to have them extracted/removed if an x-ray predicts that there may/will be complications with their growth. Hope this helps :D

    • Yep. Be cautious if a dentist wants to do it but can't adequately explain why. It can always be done later.

    • Mine was removed because the back of the wisdom tooth couldn't be reached by the toothbrush and it was hard to floss it since it was far inside the mouth. The tooth decayed and I had it removed.
