Help answer this question below.
Although it is sensible to avoid drinking alcohol when taking any medication, it is unlikely that drinking alcohol in moderation will cause problems if you are taking most common antibiotics. However, it is necessary to completely avoid drinking when taking certain kinds of antibiotics, because the adverse effects are more severe(breathlessness, headache, increased or irregular heart rate, low blood pressure, nausea and vomiting) In order to avoid these adverse effects it is preferable to consult a doctor before drinking alcohol while on antibiotics.
There is no interaction between amoxicillin and alcohol so are free to drink.

Many people wonder where the idea came from ref alcohol and antibiotics. Best I've heard is the the introduction of antibiotics began around the beginning of the 40's and many of the armed forces were given it to cure the dreaded social disease. As ex-army I know that two things soldiers like to do concern alcohol and the fair sex so the MO would administer the the drug with the stern warning to refrain from both activities or the situation would result in further punishment both physically and from the military. Sounds good and believable to me
