That's a tough question. First, it somewhat depends on prior offenses, second, it depends on what you voted for.
States that are "tough on crime" throw people in jail for just about anything. The system in most states is heavily rigged in favor of the prosecution and judges are at the mercy of police unions that vote them in to make sure they give out guilty sentencing.
I don't know about MN. Maybe you'll get lucky and everyone won't be so "tough on crime." Good luck and unless the kid is a real delinquent, I hope he gets off with probation.

You're reading My son was arrested for breaking into a car. He goes to court this week. Will he get any jail time for this? He is 18 and we live in MN.
