You're reading Does anyone have any ideas of how we can dress up 70's style for a War Awareness Rally at our college? I know nothing about the style of the 70's. Our Rally is to inform students on whats going on and register them to vote, etc.

Hi Vesper,
Some of the more popular costumes and outfits spring to mind such as the Saturday Night Fever white men's suit, Jumpsuits for Women. Flamboyant shirts like the Hawaiian variety really stand out, and that is really what 1970s fashion was all about, really standing out from the crowd. Then there's the footwear, large platform and wedge shoes, Gogo boots which were often white and went right up to the knees. Then to finish off the look don't forget the outrageous hair styles such as big Afro wigs for the guys and often long 'below the shoulder' length hair for women. Guys would also sport a big medallion over their hairy chests as well as moustaches - how cool! There's a site that has some of these examples that will give you some ideas for your rally or Disco party.
