The wife is nearly twice as likely as the husband to initiate divorce proceedings according to a report from the National Center for Health Statistics. Women file 61.5 percent of divorce petitions. Why are women more likely to file for divorce than men?

• Don't women cheat too? I've quite a few who have causing the man to file. And, granted, I've seen the inverse as well.

  The research discredits this belief. In the majority of adultery cases sex was not named as the key motivator - regardless of gender.

  Rather emotional distance or lack of respect from their spouse were cited as the top reasons.

  This matches the stories that I've heard in various Recovery Groups from both male and female cheaters. In fact I have NEVER once heard either an adulterous man or a woman say that they cheated for the sex - though I have heard that this happens.

  Further, I have SEEN men cheat for the sex. However it's rare to see these men in any type of recovery context because they're painfully un-self unaware as thus "Have no problems!" as well as tend to have a disrespectful mindset toward women in general.

  In other words, they're sexist pigs.
