Can you convert energy into matter?

    John.

    Matter is converted to Energy in..let me remember...Nuclear Fission. In a Nuclear Fission reaction, the sum of the mass of the reactants is less than that of the products because a small amount known as the "mass defect" is converted into energy.

    Im not sure if its been acheived going the other way though. Maybe Nuclear Fusion does it, I was never a good physics student...
