Question

Help answer this question below.

I have nasty black aphid-like bugs on my garlic chives, and they've spread to my onions. They are purplish-black when you squash them and seem impossible to get rid of. If I hit them with water, they climb back up. I don't want to use chemicals.

Two natural remedies I know of is to boil rhubarb leaves and spray with the cooled water or soak cigarette ends in water overnight and spray with the nicotine juices :o)

    • Yeah, I tried the first one on some green aphids on a rose bush. It worked a treat, but I think I might've done it at the wrong time of day or the water was too hot, because I think I caused more damage to the roses.
Will cigarette juice be safe for me to eat down the road?

    • Rinse/wash well and it will only kill the aphids by the way, you have to collect a lot of cig butts to make a concentrate but it works a treat :o)
