    Les Allemands étaient chez moi,
    ils m'ont dit "Résigne-toi",
    mais je n'ai pas pu;
    j'ai repris mon arme.

    J'ai changé cent fois de nom,
    j'ai perdu femme et enfants
    mais j'ai tant d'amis;
    j'ai la France entière.

    Un vieil homme dans un grenier
    pour la nuit nous a caché,
    les Allemands l'ont pris;
    il est mort sans surprise.

    OK, here's my best college French translation:

    "The Germans were at my house,
    They said, "Surrender!"
    But I couldn't.
    I took up my gun again.

    I changed my name a hundred times,
    I lost my wife and children,
    But I had so many friends;
    I had all of France.

    An old man, in a grainery,
    Hid us for the night.
    The Germans caught him;
    He died without surprise.

    • Perfect answer except "grenier" is "attic", not really "grainery".
      And the Ãc stuff is "é".
