Question

Help answer this question below.

I know we need ads to pay for the site, but when I answer a good relationship question ( as best I can ), I really don't want to see, Erin ( 26 from cardiff ), even if she does look cute, are some of the ads just going a bit too far?

    I use NoScript. It uses the "whitelist" principle, allowing only scripts you approve. It works with Mozilla browsers, including Firefox and SeaMonkey. I've been using NoScript for about a year now. I see very few ads any more. (None here.)

    When I first visit a new site I right-click and open the NoScript menu, then allow only the script(s) I want. If I'm not sure, I click "Temporarily allow..."
    On this page alone, 7 scripts are all trying to run. I allow only three, answerbag.com and a couple others that don't annoy me.

    For Firefox:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

    For SeaMonkey:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/722

    And the author's own website:
    http://noscript.net/

    ==========================
    I still use SeaMonkey's built-in cookie manager, image manager, & popup manager, but those options are mostly set-and-forget.

    • Yeah, NoScript and AdBlock Plus are mandatory extensions for Firefox.

    • I finally abandoned NoScript, after months of fussing with it, manually whitelisting every website I want to visit. I've switched to AdBlock Plus. It's very versatile, allowing me to manually block ads or import scripts written by others. I agree, it really is good.

      I also use BlockSite for those pesky websites that paralyze my browser and prevent me from leaving. It keeps me from clicking on something accidentally and going to a site I don't want.
