Speaking as a Methodist myself, our beliefs regarding salvation are that there is only one way to get into Heaven and that is by accepting Jesus as our Saviour. We outwardly confirm our acceptance as Jesus as our Saviour by being baptized. We also believe that you can't get into Heaven by good works alone. However, by accepting Jesus as our Saviour and everyone who does as well, will follow Jesus' example by trying to perform good works and when our good works fail because we sin, then we ask for Jesus' forgiveness and try not to commit the same sin again.

Here is scriptural evidence supporting the "saved by grace" doctrines that we, as Methodists uphold:

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9, King James Version Bible).

"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin" (Romans 3:20, King James Version Bible).

"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law" (Romans 3:28, King James Version Bible).

"Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified" (Galatians 2:16, King James Version Bible).

Here's an excellent and extremely useful website, which details the various denominations, and their beliefs concerning salvation:

Catholic doctrine concerning salvation can be viewed at the following url:

    and

    http://christianity.about.com/od/denominations/a/catholicdenom_2.htm

Mormon doctrine concerning salvation can be viewed at the following url:

    http://www.jefflindsay.com/faith_works.html

Here's a Christian Assembly denomination, which holds that salvation is by grace alone:

Ultimately, being Methodist, and accepting Jesus' Word, the Bible, as the inerrant, infallible Word of God, I adhere to the belief that salvation is by grace ALONE and that grace is followed by works, but that works by themselves are NOT enough to get into Heaven--only accepting Jesus as your Saviour, as I have already done, is the ONLY method/way to get into Heaven.

I hope this answers your question and I apologize for not posting ALL the information here, but as you can there's a great deal of information on these websites; hence, I am giving you their urls, in order for you to peruse them at your will.
