What items should be in a first-aid kit for camping?

    In addition to the relevant advice above...
    One should consider what the possible hazards and threats to the camper are before packing a first aid kit. One should also bear in mind what purpose a first aid kit serves. Sun screen (for example) is not a first aid item since it does not serve any purpose following and illness or injury (first aid).
    Every first aid kit will be different depending on the users requirements and the environment in to which it is to be taken (I would gladly throw out all my dressings in place of a sterile syringe and needle set if I were to go to africa). Always consider the simple before the complicated as simple items serve far more purposes than specific equipment.
    Finally. A well trained first-aider is far more valuable than any kit. The individual can be more resourceful and inventive than any dressing or wound closure strip ever can be.
    So: Get yourself in the know before you go.
